Please help with suggestions for my diet/exercise

Hey all, completely new first time posting here... but I just wanted to find a place where people may be able to give me some tips.

I used to be in great shape, then hit college and let myself get out of shape. It was easy to be in shape before cuz it happened when I was younger played sports etc... I was never out of shape, just average then got in shape from sports.

Well now after 6 years of being out of shape, i'm ready to get back in shape. I am 5'10 and currently weight 155 lbs. This doesn't sound bad i'm sure to most people at first. I am on my 5th week of dieting and exercising, 5 weeks ago I was 163lbs.

If one was to look at me they would not think i'm out of shape, wearing a shirt I look fine, especially since the fat is all in my gut, but it doesn't stick out. My upper body isn't bad. Even with a shirt off I just look like my stomach lacks any definition and basically is a bit soft looking. However I can grab my stomach and pinch fat that's probably a good 2 inches thick.

Since 5 weeks ago I have cut my calorie intake per day to 1750. I also cut soft drinks out and the only time I have a pepsi is if I go out to eat with friends (perhaps twice a month). I take in more fruits and veggies but my diet isn't perfect, I don't have the time to always cook meals so I may have a hot pocket or frozen pizza, occasionally, but I still count the calories and never go over 1750 in a day.

I have increased my workout a little more each week, as of this week which as I said is my 5th week I am now doing aerobic exercise 1.5 hours a day including a 3 mile jog, 6 days a week and lifting weights 3 days a week for 30 mins, I am not doing crazy amount of weightlifting as i'm not trying to bulk up, but instead get a defined and toned look.

I feel a lot better, I have a lot more energy and my upper body (chest/arms/shoulders) are looking better, my face also looks a bit thinner tho it never really looked big so who knows.. however my stomach to me feels exactly the same... at least my gut, my upper stomach not so much.

I know you can't spot burn fat, but does anyone have a guess as to when I may see results? This is the part that is really bothering me and I want to change so bad. I know it's only been 5 weeks and things take time too, I guess I just thought I may see a bit more of a visible change sooner. I went to a website online that calculates body fat percentage, I don't know how accurate it is but I was around 19% 3 weeks ago. I have a goal to get to around 8%.

As I said I take in 1750 calories a day, eating 4-5 times per day. Also i've been drinking green tea daily as well (not the stuff loaded with sugar but made with tea bags, 0 calories) . Any tips on anything else I may want to try to take in? Anything I should change? I appreciate any tips people may have or insight.

age?
height?
gender?
weight?

1750cals a day may be under-eating by enough that the body thinks you're starving, especially if you're burning a lot of calories in the gym.

5'10. 155lbs. M. 28.

Hmmm, undereating? If it's recommended to get 2000 calories a day, I would have assumed cutting it by just 250 was not a big deal...

5 weeks? It may be time for a couple of days with lots of food to boost your leptin. When you decide to do this, don't be greedy with the carbs.

Not sure I understand this?

When you're on a low cal diet your body will try to adapt. It will slow down the metabolism and make it harder to lose weight. It adjusts your hormones (i.e. leptin - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leptin), which will make you more hungry and lose weight slower. It's kind of a survival mechanism.

This isn't math, but most people need a couple of high cal days after 6-7-8 weeks on diet to reverse these effects. It seems like you got it under control. Just watch your weight regularly and look for signs of stagnation.

Carbs will fill up your empty glycogen stores. I guess you'll find a lot searching for 'carb loading' or 'carb up' on the forum.

Keep up the good work!
