Hey all, completely new first time posting here... but I just wanted to find a place where people may be able to give me some tips.
I used to be in great shape, then hit college and let myself get out of shape. It was easy to be in shape before cuz it happened when I was younger played sports etc... I was never out of shape, just average then got in shape from sports.
Well now after 6 years of being out of shape, i'm ready to get back in shape. I am 5'10 and currently weight 155 lbs. This doesn't sound bad i'm sure to most people at first. I am on my 5th week of dieting and exercising, 5 weeks ago I was 163lbs.
If one was to look at me they would not think i'm out of shape, wearing a shirt I look fine, especially since the fat is all in my gut, but it doesn't stick out. My upper body isn't bad. Even with a shirt off I just look like my stomach lacks any definition and basically is a bit soft looking. However I can grab my stomach and pinch fat that's probably a good 2 inches thick.
Since 5 weeks ago I have cut my calorie intake per day to 1750. I also cut soft drinks out and the only time I have a pepsi is if I go out to eat with friends (perhaps twice a month). I take in more fruits and veggies but my diet isn't perfect, I don't have the time to always cook meals so I may have a hot pocket or frozen pizza, occasionally, but I still count the calories and never go over 1750 in a day.
I have increased my workout a little more each week, as of this week which as I said is my 5th week I am now doing aerobic exercise 1.5 hours a day including a 3 mile jog, 6 days a week and lifting weights 3 days a week for 30 mins, I am not doing crazy amount of weightlifting as i'm not trying to bulk up, but instead get a defined and toned look.
I feel a lot better, I have a lot more energy and my upper body (chest/arms/shoulders) are looking better, my face also looks a bit thinner tho it never really looked big so who knows.. however my stomach to me feels exactly the same... at least my gut, my upper stomach not so much.
I know you can't spot burn fat, but does anyone have a guess as to when I may see results? This is the part that is really bothering me and I want to change so bad. I know it's only been 5 weeks and things take time too, I guess I just thought I may see a bit more of a visible change sooner. I went to a website online that calculates body fat percentage, I don't know how accurate it is but I was around 19% 3 weeks ago. I have a goal to get to around 8%.
As I said I take in 1750 calories a day, eating 4-5 times per day. Also i've been drinking green tea daily as well (not the stuff loaded with sugar but made with tea bags, 0 calories) . Any tips on anything else I may want to try to take in? Anything I should change? I appreciate any tips people may have or insight.
