Pilates Question

Hello All! I am trying to slim down my butt & thighs, will pilates do this for me and not make me bulky? I purchased a DVD and tried it today-loved it!

Pilates is a good workout. It might help you out in this area but no more than doing other forms of cardio and strength training will. I know some pilates instructors like to claim that it makes the muscles longer but that's just not possible (unless it's flexibility they are talking about which usually isn't the case). But to help you get what you want you'd have to give more details than that. Like what your workouts and diet look like. Then it would be easier to help you reach your goals.
 
i do different tapes that combine body sculpting/yoga/pilates type exercises. i like them because i'm not exhausted afterwards. i just wouldn't want it to be my only workout, that's all.
 
I loved doing pilates as well. I would not recommend it as your only workout though. I think it will help tone your thighs and butt, but I would also recommend doing resistance training 2-3 times per week as well as cardio training 5-7 times a week for about 30 mins. Definitely continue to do the pilates because it is important to do something you like.
