Personal Trainer

Is there any personal training programs available which you can follow at the gym yourself rather than actually highering a personal trainer?

Maybe they can be purchased online or something?

I'm thinking of some weight programs and ideas on cardio workouts?

Cheers

There is a plethora of information on this site and from the links the gentlemen provided you or you can hire someone like myself or a few other trainers on this site that offer online customized programs.

Which ever route you take, good luck.

I would advise you get a decent assessment from a trainer who is capable of doing so BEFORE you start. You may find you have some issues that need to be addressed.

It's just a consultation, not an actual contract. So whatever he/she charges it may be very much worth your while.

Pecker, if you're willing to put down money, you could get "New Rules of Lifting" by Lou Schuler and Alwyn Cosgrove.

Lou wrote the discourse and Alwyn wrote the lifting programs. Both are CSCSs and Alwyn has a masters in exercise physiology. It's safe to say Alwyn is one of the most knowledgeble people in the field.

The last chapter is devoted to nutrition and there is a section on cardio (in particular, a form of interval training), so I'd say it will tell you all you need to know for now.
