Near death experience? Share....Share, if you don't mind. I find it fascinating as to what turns people on to fitness or gets them to recommit. Help us out big man ( or direct me to where you've covered it before).

UFC for us also tonight. Will Brock Lesner win or not? Ought to be interesting. Take care, Greg

short version. you are becoming a good member, and you are probably searching for that post.

Feb 23, 1997 i had a canopy with line over among other malfunctions and it thru me into a violent spin. I nearly lost concience, or di lose it, due to the G's generated. I got the canaopy cut away but it thru me horizontal to the ground. My reserve canapy deployed infalted, and rocked down, and i was a dead man standingin in a filed.

I have been flyinfree since. Free of expectations of others, free to live, free to die, etc. etc. that experience connected me to all things. I have a tatoo down thefront of my shin and foot, and around ankel that commemorates it.

p,s I have had a few additional near deaths due to the freedom that on gave me. and actually, my last one was a hard landing in skydiving again, and the recovery from that included swimming. I was damaged, ended up here, and that lil honey Sparrow introd me to Triathlons, and welll IRONMAN called me from the wilderness. I had no idea what "IRONAMN" reakky meant, and realize I still don;t. BUT it is MAJOR! believe that!

I am advanced in dumb,

that's livin baby!

the thrill of the edge is knowing it is actually the edge.

I've decided my goal for the end of the summer is to be able to do in a week what you do in a day.

Don't let it go to your head, though. I'm lazy, and still fat. ;)

Good one. I bet you smelled REAL NICE at that bday party. whew you are brave.

I think he's fakin it. I don't think he does any of that stuff at all.

And those pictures? It's obvious he's spraying himself with a spray bottle and it's not really sweat *rolls eyes*

TOTALLY obvious. Plus his photoshop talent is just unbelievable. Especially at that last "race". He even photoshopped his wife in there! Such talent.

shheeeesh total blush* :)

ahem,,, Ladies- excuse me, I don't mean to interupt, but this is my training log, not a sewing circle, or scrapbooking chatroom....
now! could you please bring me a glass of water and something sweet, sweetie?

;) If you really need to express your admiration- please start a new thread. hgahahahaha

anyhow:
I have been working on my race plan for Sunday:

START:
take off fast- first mile in the 7 flat range, and get my body hot!!!!
long stride- 8 - 8:30 range for mile 2-6, water every other station, mile 6 = energy gel
cool it about 9-9:30's for mile 6-10
mile 10 to mile 11 = RPE 3-5 settle down catch my breath...
mile 11 to finish run it out RPE 7-9

so-- it is fast to bring rate up, sustain 70% or so (45 min), carbs and cool a bit, drop to 40-50% effort, and then stride it out, 80 - 90% for 14.5 minutes to finish....

this will put me at 1:53-- BUT, this will also be my first race in which I will use perception only-NO WATCH. joining the big boys (and girls)

whatcha think? of the plan?

I'm out of breathe just reading what you do! Whats the throw up about? From eating bday choc?? Or just pushing yourself to the extreme?

I'm not sure that 7 flat is a good idea. You're going to dump all sorts of lactic acid into your blood from the start and the 8-8:30 pace isn't going to flush it out enough. By the time you hit the 9-9:30 "easy" pace you're going to have bonked, even WITH the carbs (since all digestion will have literally ceased at that pace) and even that slower pace won't feel like much recovery. Unless you've trained this way, I'd advise against it. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to get back to my sewing circle.

hmmmm, very nice point- now that you have said that, i see a trend of mine- punishment.

okee dokee... comforatable 9's until 7, then stretch it out... simple!

Throwing up is my method of maintaingin weight-- hahahaha NOT REALLY, and that's not very funny- the chocolate was too heavy for running. just dumb.

tonight:
ride: 5.7 mountain bike
swim: 300 warm
6X50 sprints
8x25 hopoxics, I even made it all the way accrossed without breathin one time!!

12 X 100 -- 25hard/25 easy/25 easy/25 easy rotated it.
I could only do it for 3 rounds.

ride: 5.7 home

Not breathing on the first stroke after pushing off the wall almost drowned me. And- i could not complete the workout I got from som swimmer person!! tongue stuck out!

good night
sweat daily!

Long day yesterday and emotional too.
BUT-
run: 2 miles with TJ to help him prep for his 5K
stretch
got taxes done.... and dang I owe major bucks.

picked up new uniforms, veyr nice in deed. Pic in the headed to iron thread.

run: 2 miles with honey- she can run them both continuous now. nice to see somebody get excited like that.

CCR, or maybe is was Gooch- I have been eating pickles, and trying to get additional sodium the last week and I can actually feel it. It's almost like my blood is thinner and flowing and flowing better. My pee stinks again too, and I have not lowered my water intake. Very interesting how the whole- healthy cells, potassium, sodium, water retention dealy-bob plays out.

Have you been reading that t-nation article? :D The pickles. I've added one to each meal myself. Because, y'know, I'm an endurance athlete, too... *cough* Actually it's because of the whole potassium-sodium dynamic, and I figure if I'm always craving it (when I don't actually like it), my body must be talking at me.

My urine smells like a freshly-baked baguette, though. Salt makes my pee French? I don't get it. Yours, too?

Hahahahahaha. I kid, Frenchies.

Nothin like a good pee convo to get you in the mood for fitness!!

...And pickles
