I use mine all day.
What I was suggested to try & do was to wear it for a week. See what the average number of steps per day is for you. Then the next week try to increase your daily steps by 500 more steps. Then when this gets comfortable add more, until you reach the 10,000 steps per day. (Which I have yet to do, but one day!)
I also try to work out separately, but it is fun to track the steps per day & can encourage you to move even more. My opinion is EVERY single step you take is better than that time spent sitting.
