Pedometers

I use mine all day.

What I was suggested to try & do was to wear it for a week. See what the average number of steps per day is for you. Then the next week try to increase your daily steps by 500 more steps. Then when this gets comfortable add more, until you reach the 10,000 steps per day. (Which I have yet to do, but one day!)

I also try to work out separately, but it is fun to track the steps per day & can encourage you to move even more. My opinion is EVERY single step you take is better than that time spent sitting.

Good luck & have fun with it.

On the subject of pedometers... Since I'm 'in training' for my walk - and will be a training captain for other people fairly soon - It'll be helpful for me to know exactly (or close enough) a walk I plan is..

I can use for city streets, but I like the park better - more hills and less of a chance of getting hit by a car (only bicycles).

But Roscoe, my pedometer has been acting up - even with a fresh battery and is not giving me the same readoout twicein arow so I think it's lying - it's a Sportline Walking Advantage #363 and I'm ready to throw it out...

I honestly don't care about step counts (which is what this pedometer does) I care about actual mileage - or a better way to track actual mileage... anyone have any good pedometer reccommendations?

is it accurate mileage wise -

the 363 is a piece of crap - all it does is step counts.. and it's soo not accurate iam finding - :(

advice on pedometer

Now that spring is here and summer getting close, Im going to be doing a lot of walking outside, and i was thinking about getting a pedometer..How accurate are pedometers? I was looking in the avon booklet and they have a small one by curves, $14.99 that attaches to your belt. Whats your opinion on this one? i heard they have the ones for the waist?

Did a little bit of merging - since there were a bunch of random threads about pedometers..

I just got the sportline 360 and i like it -it seems to be accurate a lot more accurate than the other one i had which just measaured steps...

i think pedometers can be accurate enough as long as you can adjust the stride and it doesn't give you extra steps for fidgeting...

I just got mine on m2m's reccomendation - and i'm satisfied with it so far... i had just the step counter one and it was horribly inaccurate... i like the mileage better

What I love the most about my pedometer is seeing the difference in the amount of steps taken on a work day verses a day off. I always thought I was more active during work than on my rest days and boy was I wrong:p by about 2000 steps!! Housework and grocery shopping really adds to the number of steps you can take in a day!:)

OO thats not bad, i thought it was more in the 40's, 50's.. I've never had one before. So the curves one is bleh huh? I was going to order some lipstick, and saw the curves pedometer, thought I'd toss it in with my order, but i trust you all so i will go ahead and get the 360..:) .
