It can be very high cal ,especially with creamy or calorie laden sauces.
It's best to only have a portion of 40 grams uncooked (no more than 70 grams per person is advised if you want more than 40 grams) and switch to whole wheat/grain, as that takes longer to digest making it Low GI and has added fibers.
Also, some sauces have very high content of fat in them, and salt, sugar, etc everything that hikes up the cals.
You can make a nice sauce from scratch with tomato purée, spices and add loads of veg and a little of lean mince beef and then it's still yummy but healthier.
