out of shape starting out. Quick question.

Hi all. I just got back into a gym last week for the first time in 3 years! I am happy. Anyway I have alot of spare time and plan to spend a good bit of time at the gym. I just need to allow time to heal. I am thinking of doing the following.

Mon - Upper
Tues - Lower

Wed - Yoga and cardio

Thursday - Upper
Friday - Lower

Saturday Rest
Sunday Rest

I will also do some yoga either mon or friday also and some cardio maybe on Saturday. MY MAIN QUESTION is ..... does this allow enough time for my body to heal between weight training days? It is now wed night and I plan to do my second upper body workout tomorrow but my upper is still sore from my first work out WAY back on monday. Is this simply because it is my first week or does this mean even after I do not get sore that thursday is too soon again after monday even once i get in shape? I can work through the pain. I just want to know for future refrence once the pain goes away.

Usually the first few times you'll be sore for an over-average amount of time.. I would just do one more full body workout on friday, and then try your split again next week. It looks like you should have enough time to heal, but your diet needs to be on point.
 
True that...yeah I would take it a slower like mreik said. I think you are jumping into it too quickly, since you are just getting back at it.

You can either do a full body on friday, or just push everything back a day for this week, or put a full day between workouts for now, so upper friday, sunday lower...and just see how it goes
