one day at a time...

Hello,

I'm new to this forum. Pics and Notes are so motivating on this site! I look forward to having an equally successful story and hopefully motivate a few people myself.

I have gotten to a place in my weight that is completely unfamiliar to me, and to be honest...its a scary place:eek2:

About a week ago, I began a food journal. I am trying to stay within 1600-1700 calories a day. Somedays are right on the mark, and somedays are not so easy. After all the diets I have tried and failed at, I've decided to use the "one day at a time" approach. After an unsuccessful day, I brush off any guilt and move on to a new day.

I am 5'9 and sadly have let myself get to a weight of 220 lbs. This is by far the highest I have ever weighed. Before my son was born I weighed 140 lbs and was very happy with how I looked and felt.

I would like to get back down to 150 lbs. I think this is a healthy weight for my height and build.

I am always open to advise and any motivational words people would like to share.

PS. How and where do I get the "ticker" (I think thats what they're called) to post on my page?

Thanks for reading my story and I look forward to tracking my progress. :seeya:

Hello vkmomm,

Good for you for taking the step of even keeping a food journal, I know how much of a pain in the arse it is for me to freakin keep a note pad with me just for what I eat.

The one day at a time approach is prob most ppl's best bet. I tend to worry on that one little thing that happened a few hours ago and than self-sabotage the rest of my day. Working on controlling this.

I know you can do it! Take Care

P.S. Click on my Ticker and it will take you to the site

We have a similar story/height/weight - I'd be glad to journey along with you if you'd like. Holler at me if you ever need anything - motivation/advice/comparison - anything! Best wishes to you! :)

Thanks y'all for taking the time to write your kind words...

I am thrilled to say that I have lost 5 lbs in the past 2 weeks! The food journal does seem to be helping :hurray:

RunningGirl - Thanks for the encouragement and for the ticker! I'll add that right away. Congrats on your success :)

themightymissm - I will take you up on your offer, feel free to do the same! It's helpful to talk to someone who knows what you're going through...

WineDeer - All the best to you as well :)

Welcome and good luck in your journey. You have to remember that this is not a "diet". You need to remove that four letter word from your vocabulary. This is a lifestyle change. With that said, you are right by taking it one day at a time. Not every day will be perfect but it is the slow and steady that win the race!!

Good luck and I am sure you will make great progress!!
