On the road to glory

Hello everyone!

I am a recently new member seeking some advice and some encouragement.
Basically, I looked at myself in the mirror and got tired of what I saw. Therefore this has been my first week of a healthy new lifestyle.

I want to post my weekly schedule maybe get some pointers / advice!
So, my week starts on Monday with a small sandwhich of whole wheat toast with butter cold cuts and cheese. I then go to school and do not eat anything for approx 6 hours, not voluntary. When I get home I do intense work out for an hour to an hour and a halfish of weights for chest abs and back. Then, I eat a dinner that consists of meat and salad and a little bit of potatoes.
I was wondering if at around 7-8 I clock it's alright to have a snack of yogurt, cheese and cold cuts plain?

Tuesdays I do cardiovascular only for 30-1hr , however I hear that simply jogging is innefective and slow, any tips on better cardio for faster weight burning?

Wednesday same thing as Monday but this time I work on abs shoulders and legs.

Thursday once again cardio.

Friday I work on biceps, triceps, and abs.

Sat and sun is cardio again.

My basic question is: am I doing alright for a newb? Is the more effective ways to do things? Or am I doing anything wrong?
Thanks for your time!!!! All opinions are appreciated and matter to me :)

You left out info such as your gender, weight, age, etc.
Your diet will probably need some work, just from looking at it I'm not sure you're eating enough or getting enough of the nutrients you need (don't know how much you weigh, your portion sizes or what you're specifically eating so can't say for sure). You should also track your calories in a food type journal (try fitday or mydailyplate).
Your weight workout seems pretty long, if you're just trying to maintain muscle mass then you need to lift heavy, something like 3 sets with 5-8 reps each works fine.
Jogging is a fine method of weight loss, there's nothing ineffective about it. It's good if your heart is pumping and you are sweating (as long as you can maintain it for 20-30mins) but even if you're not it doesn't mean you're not burning calories. People will sometimes say ridiculous things such as walking doesn't burn calories, which is madness. The majority of your weight loss will come from your diet though regardless.

Read the stickies in the forums, especially the Nutrition and Exercise forums. And welcome!!!:patriot:

Welcome to the forum.

I don't see anything wrong with your exercise program. It is a little bit hard to judge the diet because you have not provided any data on your weight, height, age, or the quantities of food you are eating. To get a better handle on that, you could sign up for an online journal like Fitday.com or Mypyramidtracker.gov.

I think you would be better off to eat lunch or at least some kind of healthy snack in that period of time. Why is it "not voluntary"?

Ahhh sorry about that, I thought I included my info.
18 Years Old
6'2" Tall
260 Pounds
Male.

My diet usually includes for example one piece of meat (either chicken breast, tender loin, pork chop) around the size of 1-2 chicken breasts. Potatoes usually include somewhere around 1-2 tablespoons full (not a lot). Salad of course I eat a lot of now, currently around 1 full bowl, with no dressing just using balsamic vinegar. My lunch time is not-voluntary eating because I don't have time, I am in university so my schedule is set up with basically no breaks, but I think i could obviously eat an apple maybe in class? If an apple or fruit would suffice for lunch. Any ideas?

My work out routine usually does include around 3 sets with 10-15 reps each so usually something like this: 3 Sets (15 - 12 - 10). Also, with the concern of running, I havent been able to lately because I recently sprained my ankle playing hockey, thus I can't put too much pressure on it yet at the moment. But it is almost fully healed so I am expecting to start cardio next week. Also, I read around on the internet that simple jogging does burn calories but slowly, so I was wondering if maybe burst running would be better? For example, jog for a few minutes then sprint for 30 seconds then jog again and sprint again and so on... I also want to seek different cardio methods for when it is too cold out, maybe skipping rope? In the same sort of method, skip slowly and then skip really quickly making the heart race and sweat more often.

Thank you for the quick replies by the way, I really appreciate it!
