On my way to 63kgs

If the trainer isn't there tomorrow I might pluck up the courage to ask somebody how to use one of the machines. I want to concentrate mainly on aerobic exercise at the moment but would like to get started on weights as well.
It is so nice to hear people that only know me through an internet forum say that they are proud of me. :):):)
Good for you for going to the gym! I'm proud of you! As for your family, that's wonderful that they joined too! I hope they stick it out! :D

As for the weight machines, what I would do is just try them out, get a feel for them. You can always start on them and then when you do get a trainer to help then you're already a step ahead of the game. :)

Alright Eycky! Just got caught up on your thread and am proud of ya once again! Congrats on your gym visits! And overcoming your fear while there!
You are doing great!

As for the machines....be sure to ask someone or wait for instruction from the trainer. Its easy to hurt yourself lifting wrong or using too much weight when you start out. And asking someone is assuming they know what they are doing....I bet if you watch three different people, you'll see them using the machine differently. Some move weights to fast, some to slow, some dont even adjust the machine for their size...(most machines have something to adjust, ie seat.) So be careful :)

Take care!

Yay for aerobics! I do step aerobics several times a week and wow, it kicks my butt! But I always feel so good after! lol :D

Keep up the great work - I really hope I have it in me to do as good as you've done! What you've accomplished so far blows my mind! 18 kg, that's like 40 pounds right?

I think I have mentioned this before, but I enjoy reading your journal. And I stole your idea of putting my ticker in kgs. My weighing machine is in kgs, so instead of converting it in lbs, and freaking out about every lbs that I don't lose, I thought I would just start measuring in kgs like you do.

18 kgs is no joke. Congratulations!!

Hope you have a great week.

By aerobic I meant fat burning machines rather than muscle building machines, not aerobic classes. My favourite form of exercise is step but I haven't been to classes for years.- The situation with looking after my dad makes it difficult for me to commit to classes at set times but I would love to do step again. Maybe in the winter when a member of the family aren't working I can get somebody to sit with him and do a class.
Yes 18 kgs is about 40 lbs. The last 6kg don't want to move at the moment but with the gym it should start to all tighten up at least. :)

Thanks Juni, I get weighed at Weight watchers in Kgs so don't bother converting. I always weighed in stones when I was in England so lbs don't mean a lot to me anyway. I just know that 10st is 140lbs and if I go under that and can say that I weigh 9 stone something then I will be delighted as I never expected to ever get back into the 9s, actually I didn't expect to ever be in the 10s or 11s either :)

I wouldn't really say that as we would all be slim if it wasn't difficult. Maybe weight loss isn't difficult but setting your mind to it is :)
Weight loss is not difficult . You need to set you mind on reducing it. You will be on way to success.

Hi Flumes, you're right of course. I am just getting frustrated as I have been twice now and the trainer wasn't there either time and I really wanted to get going. I might pay for a couple of sessions with a private trainer if the usual gym one doesn't turn up soon.

Couldn't get to the gym today as I was waiting for our little swimming pool to be delivered. They said sometime after 8 oclock in the morning and typical Spanish fashion it didn't arrive until just after 3 this afternoon.
I went out for a 9km walk and had some fun. Some young lads ran past me and looked at my quite smugly as I was only walking. I waited until they were just a little way away and then started running behind them. At one point one of them turned round and I slowed straight down and pretended that I was just walking, this happened 3 times and I could see the puzzled looks on their faces because I was keeping up with them walking. They then turned round and went back the way they came and looked at me with a lot more respect :D
Forgot to put 2 bras on so nearly knocked myself out running :)
I measured my bust the other day which I didn't think had gone down much and found out that I am now 38E(actually 37) instead of 42G so was quite chuffed.
In case anybody is interested in what I eat.
Today I had
Breakfast - Porridge (oatmeal) with sugarless jam
Lunch - pasta with shrimps, smoked salmon and teryaki sauce.
Dinner - cauliflower, brocolli, carrots and steamed salmon.
2 natural low fat, sugarless yoghurts
during the day - watermelon, peach, apple, grapes, cherries.
Litre of gazpacho drunk during day.
Nothing sinful at all today although I often have couple of WW biscuits or one of their desserts.
The one thing that I really miss is pastry. Meat pies, apple pies etc. but daren't even have any yet as I will have a lot of trouble controlling myself.

LOL!!!!
Nice one! hehehe I bet they were really confused! 9km sounds like a good workout and great that you got some running in there too!

and YAY for the decreasing bust!!

I finally got over my embarrassment about running in public. If I can do it on the treadmill at the gym then why not in the street :)

LOL!!!!

For the record...I'm only in partial agreement with the above statements. :newangel:

LOL!!
Male viewpoint duely noted Fl-"likes a little more bounce in his day"-umes
however surely there's a point where it becomes downright hazardous?

9 Kms is no joke, Val. Congratulations. And you were running outside!! Yay! I wish I could run outside, its soo hot these days. But after work, I will take my nieces for a little walk, come back, drop them off with the sitter and then go for a longer walk or run. You have inspired me. :) yay, on bust decreasing. I hope mine go down some too when I lose the 6 kgs. Must do measurements soon.

Happy hump day!

Sounds like a pretty good day. Your meals today look so yummy! :D You're doing a great job!

I can understand why you want to lose the boobage. Starting at a G must be tough! I really don't want to lose my breast size as I'm only DD. But it might look odd for me to have double Ds once I hit my goal weight ...so yeah, I guess the boobs should probably shrink too - not that I have any say in the mater one way or the other. lol

I envy you the run. I haven't done any running in ...wow, since high school gym class. lol But I'm looking forward to doing it again (even though I HATED it). I used to have dreams of running just for the joy of it but always assumed at my size I wouldn't be able to run at all, let alone be able to enjoy it. I REALLY REALLY look forward to the day when I'll be able to run again. Now that I'm losing weight I might just see if I can. heh. Though most likely I won't be able to until I drop at least 100 pounds.

But I guess I can live vicariously through you until then! heheh

Keep up the good work!

No doubt! That's like 5 and a half miles! That's amazing! Val is awesome! I hope to be able to do that some day.

I only ran for a few minutes the rest of the time was just walking. It was hot and I arrived home soaking wet but I walk at about 7.30 when it's cooled a bit and it's mostly in the shade.

As I said above only a small part of it was running but each time I try it gets easier. It's just a matter of pushing yourself a little bit harder each day and I'm amazed how quickly your body toughens up. I had trouble getting up a flight of steps a few months ago. It was The Biggest Loser that made me realize that it was possible as they get fit in a matter of weeks on that programme. It is definitely a matter of forcing yourself though. Yesterday I really didn't want to go out walking but I made myself and started off really badly but after a while got into the rythm and as I said even ran for a while. The feeling after running is amazing, I just can't describe it. It sort of gives me a feeling like an adrenaline rush :)

Even still! I can barely walk a mile! Let alone five and a half! And the fact that you ran at all is wonderful. I envy you that! :D Stop downplaying your accomplishments! You rock and you are doing a really good job, take a compliment, sweetie! lol :) *hugs*
