I guess I'm gonna start my diary today!
Tommorow, I'll post what I've ate and what I did.
To start, my name is Mel. I'm 5'4 and at 160lbs.
To be totally honest, I'm not totally uncomfortable in my skin, but my family has a history of major obesity, so I kind've wanna take the bull by the horns.
I suppose I'll answer those questions in the sticky on this forum, because I'm out of things to say!
I want to lose.. about 35 pounds. My ideal weight would be 125lbs, but I'd be comfortable with 135. My measurements are 40/30/36 (my chest is.. ahem, unpreportionate.). I'm also a little nervous that my chest will stay the same size it is when I lose weight, which would suck. What do you guys think?
I'd like to lose it in about.. as long as it took. I think it'll happen in time if I eat well and work out.
Hopefully my husband is a good support, but really, he likes.. eating delicious foods. He is my one weak spot, since he has a hyperactive thyroid, he consumes over 3000 calories a day and is 5'9 and only 150. >_< Damn him!
Anyway, I suppose I'll answer those questions then wrap this up.
What is your current height and weight? 5'4, 160lbs.
If you were at an ideal weight now, what would that weight be? 125lbs.
At what weight would you like to be at four months from now? Something healthy.
Why do you want to lose weight? To feel more energetic.
Do you want to lose weight for a specific life event such as wedding or reunion? If so, when is that event? My wedding is on March 20th, even though we got married last March, my husband shipped for the air force, so we had a quick court wedding, but I want to look good in my wedding dress!
What obstacles could get between you and your weight loss goals? My husband, bless his soul, but chilli dogs are not a 'healthy, well-rounded, dinner'
Why do you think that you now have a weight problem? Partially, I think it's from my family's genetics, partially, I think it's from my lack of effort.
What lifestyle changes do you think would help you lose weight? Selling my husband to charity! LOL, not really. Uhm, maybe beginning to choose skim milk instead of half and half for my coffee.
Have you lost weight in the past? If so, what has worked in the past to help you lose weight? Between you and me, I once suffered from an eating disorder in my mid-teens, simply because I was so paralyzed in fear of becoming my overweight parents. It was in the hospital, with a tube down my nose, that I realized I was screwing myself over, even worse than being overweight. So, now that I'm healthy and happy, years later, I decided to try again to lose weight, this time in my own, healthy way, that won't damage me in the long run.
Why do you believe that you did not lose weight or you gained the weight back? Blah, because I did it the wrong way.
What, if anything, has not worked for you in the past in helping you to lose weight? Why do you think it did not work? Well, I never tried losing weight in a healthy way before. This will be fun!
Would you try writing down all food and drink consumed for a given period of time? Yes, of course.
Do you cook at home often? If so, what do you cook? Too much hamburger helper. My husband works full time and I am a college student, so there isn't much time to make food.
How often do you go out to eat? Where do you go? I go out about.. twice a month. Maybe once a month. McDonald's McChickens are one of my big sins.
What are your three favorite foods? Chocolate (Nooooo!),chimichangas, and... kix cereal.
What are your three favorite restaurants? I don't eat out enough to know. xD
What are three things you can do differently when it comes to food? Convincing my husband that he wants to buy lower fat things.
If you woke up tomorrow and your body was exactly the way you want it, what would be different? My chest would be smaller, and my tummy wouldn't bulge out.
Do you eat when you are not hungry? Sometimes, unfortunately.
Do you binge eat (large amounts at a time)? No.
Do you hide your food or eat in secret? Once or twice a year, when I'm really mad.
Do you eat when you are sad, nervous, or depressed? No.
Do you eat as a reward? No.
Do you eat while watching TV or using the computer? Yes! Another sin.
What do you normally eat for a meal? Uh.. usually something microwavable. I'm gonna try to fix that.
What type of snacks do you eat? Carrots, pretzels and salsa, yogurt, apple sauce.
In terms of exercise, what, if anything, are you currently doing? 3 weeks so far of 45 of cardio/20 minutes of strength training, 5 days a week. Before that absolutely nothing.
Where do you go for exercise? A local public gym? School/work gym? Home? Exercise videos, especially Turbo Jam is my favorite.
What, if anything, are your three favorite types of exercise? Turbo Jam, turbo jam, turbo jam!
What is your daily/weekly/monthly/yearly motivation to move towards your goals? Uh, my husband. He always looks so darn sexy, I wanna look sexy next to him! Heheh! ^__^
Do you have rewards for certain goals? Uh, if I lost enough weight, I'd like to buy a size six dress. Right now, I wear I size 10, 12 on my chest.
And I guess that's it!
<3 Wish me luck!
