*dances the 180s dance*

That's right! This morning when I weighed myself 189.8! Now unfortunately I over ate a little bit today despite the momentum of seeing the 180s. All in all, it wasn't a horrific day. We left the house at 5 am and worked 11 hrs. Then we drove 45 minutes to my parents house where I cooked dinner. Then we drove 5 minutes home finally arriving at 8:30

I'm not going to waste too much time feeling bad about overeating a little today. Days like today, I'm just happy I didn't pig out.

Tomorrow is a fresh slate and I'm aiming for my goals. Plus I have been dragging my feet back to exercising daily. Think I'll try to fire it up tomorrow.

Seeing 189 on the scale just made me feel so happy! I know when I get on tomorrow it will most likely fluxuate back into the 190s BUT before long it will be hovering in the mid 180s and then the lower 180s and dare I say it??? The 170s!

Congrats on dropping a few more lbs!
It's always great when we get to see that our work actually makes a difference, even when we don't see it in our day-to-day lives. :D
Just keep doing what you are doing, and enjoy the feelings!

:D WooooHoooo!!!! :D It's moving for Joni.

You work amazingly long days. Good on you for not using that as a reason to stuff things up for yourself. :)

I only work part time, which means I have to get 20 hours in each week. I choose to work 2 10 hr days, so that I'm not out of the home an extra day. I do 'overtime' at home just about every day for extra money.

Well, this morning I weighed 190.4! I can handle that. I think I'm starting to relax about the little fluxuations. I am going to exercise. I haven't done any exercise in days. . .think that's why I'm feeling crappy.

I have officially told my mom that diet talk is off the table.

She is starting to have some medical problems and I think they are due to her not eating enough. My stomach surgery friend is having very similar problems.

My mom lost 26lbs in a month.

Girl Scout cookies are going to be delivered soon and she is worried it'll blow her diet. I said "Nah! Read the nutrional info. Take out a serving and put the rest away. There are ways to work the not so good food into your day".

She said she'll blow her whole diet. Later she told me she steamed cauliflower and put a slice of cheese on it. She felt bad about eating it!!!

I told her that was ridiculous. We need to eat! Sometimes, we will want to eat some unhealthy things! We shouldn't feel guilty about eating. That's the whole problem.

Then she said I think I know everything about dieting. I told her Nope, I don't. I do know that I've lost 13lbs or so in 3 months. Yes, it's slow but I have enjoyed all kinds of food. I have exercised and I'm not beating myself up. I feel like I could do this forever and I'm not afraid of 'blowing my diet'.

She didn't understand . . so no more diet talk with her.

It's probably got a lot to do with the fact that she was raised with a closed attitude about dieting, and views it only as "dieting" instead of as a way to eat more healthfully for the rest of her life (or at least many years to come). My mother, a nurse, has very strict views of how you eat when you're dieting, and she always follows them for a few days, then "breaks down and cheats" and that costs her the day and after a couple of episodes like that, she is just frustrated and gives up on the whole thing and goes back to diet cola and donuts.
I won't even talk to her about her dietary habits, and I refuse to discuss mine, although I will tell her what I am doing when she asks. I'll even describe it in detail, but I just refuse to discuss it in a "do you have any suggestions?" sort of way, and I won't offer her any, even if she asks. There are many more pleasant things to talk about with my mom; I love her, and I usually even LIKE her, so there is always some other topic of conversation.

I can understand where your mother comes from with the guilt over the slice of cheese; I get the same thing at times. I had some veggies with a slice of cheese yesterday, and I felt the same way she did; but I didn't let it stop me. Basically, a lot of times, we just do NOT feel like eating veggies at all, so we are better off to make them taste a little better and add some more energy and nutrition to them at the same time. It's not the ideal solution every time, for every one, but unless there is a lot (multiple servings of) of cheese/butter/fat/sugar added to a veggie dish, then it is going to be part of a healthy diet.

I hope your mom is able to get some of this stuff figured out for herself; the point of eating healthy and losing weight should be to help us enjoy like MORE, not less. Best of luck to you both ;)

I feel for you about your mum. You can't boss her around but you sure must feel like you want to - at least for a little while.

My sister's mother-in-law is about 78 and looking slim and good - but recently went on a no sugar diet - including no milk, no fruit, and pretty much no everything. She came to visit and fainted. So she has gone off the diet - but is still looking out for a new fad way to eat!

Girl scout cookies must be more appealing where you live if they are going to make your mother blow her diet. They are pretty blagh here. I would need fundraising chocolates to get het up myself. (I have blown a seriously good eating plan by having a whole neighbourhood's worth of chocolate sitting in my lounge room. After that I just donated up front.)

I bet the exercise does make you feel great. :)

We have had a crazy busy weekend here.

We finally got an approximate date for moving into our house :) April 15th

I had a pampered chef party and was able to get a bunch of really great stuff. I can't wait to have a bigger nicer kitchen and all my new cooking tools.

Anyways onto the eating and exercising and weighing!

Well, I weighed myself all weekend and even in the afternoon I was weighing between 189.4 and 190.

I didn't follow sparkpeople this weekend. I know I didn't eat healthy but I ate very small portions.

Tomorrow I'm getting back into the flow and I am REALLY going to make an effort to exercise this week!!

I'd really like to see a loss this week and I certainly don't want to gain!!

Multitasking! :D
You can always do a bit of floor exercise while you are watching TV or hit your treadmill whenever you get a few quiet minutes. Exercising in short bursts of 10 or 15 minutes a few times in a day might be easier to work into your schedule than a half hour of straight exercise, and you will enjoy the feeling.
It may not be an ideal way to do things, but it is better than not doing any exercise. ;)
I hope your weekend was busy enough that the "Under 190" thing sticks with you! That would be a nice finish to things, wouldn't it?

A new house will be such a massive thing. Are you actually having one built?

I hope you are having fun exercising. :)

This week is going horrible!! I've lost my determination! I don't know what happened but it's not just the weight loss. I don't feel like doing ANYTHING! I know I just need to refocus. Starting with my daily posts to my journal. .with that will come my daily tracking on sparkpeople.

I'm not giving up! I've got to get it back before I start getting the weight back!

Felici -- My husband's grandmother is moving out of her 3 bedroom house into a small one story apartment. It is an old farmhouse and needs plenty of money, time, and patience. We are excited to get out of this little apartment and into a big house!

OK, Joni. You haven't lost all your motivation, or you wouldn't have posted. You are doing the right thing by getting on line about this.

You're probably feeling the effects of having been really busy lately.

That does impact, but it doesn't control you. Just think about the next little patch of time that you know you can handle, then add another little bit - you'll soon find out that you have managed to cope with everything.

If your motivation is low, pick the exercise you most prefer and just do 5 - 10minutes. It might not knock off a pound - but it will help you move in the direction you want.

You have been here a while now. That counts - as long as you keep going. You're not the only one to feel like this sometimes, and you can get going again just like others have. :) :)

PS Big farmhouse!! Oh boy!!!! :D

You'll get plenty of exercise working to fix the old place up! Renovation is always labor intensive, and the good news is that it is mostly just "simple" things you can learn how to do with some research. That doesn't mean it's easy, just that the tasks can be done by most people, once they know how.
There is also a lot more "maintenance" that is needed, it takes a lot of work. One good source of exercise is doing your landscaping; mowing the lawn and various flower-garden tasks all involve a lost of "work".

Remember that you are here for the long haul, not the short-term run, there are going to be times where you exercise less or eat the wrong foods; just make sure to keep track of what you do, and maintain a balance of input (calories) vs. output (effort). I have confidence you can do it, so you can borrow some if you need to. ;)
See you soon!

Thanks for all the encouraging words!

I think another big part of my slump is the lack of a goal. I've taken the lifestyle change very casually and the weight loss has shown it. I've lost tiny little bits of weight and sometimes none at all and other times a small gain.

I need to regroup and organize. I was grocery shopping for a weekly list of healthy meals. I was prepping and packing healthy snacks for work.

Well, I am issueing a two pound challenge for myself. I am going to weigh myself this VERY minute. . .just a second. . . 191.0

So by next Friday, my goal is to weigh 189.0

Hopefully having some direction will bring my focus back. It will make me think twice before I eat something unhealthy or I skip exercising.

Hey you we are all still here rootin for ya - we miss your daily posts and such -do what ya gotta do and then dust yourself off and one day at a time refocus!!!We are here waiting!!!

That goal sounds like it will really help with what you're needing just now.

:D Go for it!! :D

Two pounds is something you can accomplish, and it is a nice healthy goal! :D
Keeping lots of healthy snacks around is a good thing, too!

Today went okay. I ate within the ranges but I didn't exercise.

My husband starts his new job on Monday. It's a change which also means an adjustment, but he really loves what he is going to be doing.

We are going to get groceries tomorrow. I want lots of veggies! I also think my laziness is due to being dehydrated. So I am going to keep pushing!

Tomorrow will be a tricky day. Working 6am -12. . driving 45 min to get daughter, then another 45 min to inlaws. .visiting for a few hours and then driving another 45 min home.

Throw in grocery shopping . . somewhere. . busy day

Even if we eat out I'm still going to try to cut calories.

That will be busy! You are working on Saturday?

Will your husband be doing his new job in the same place as you - as he was previously?

Buying lots of veges is going to be a real help! :)

Yep we work on Saturdays when I have a sitter.
Yep, we will be working in the same building just different floors.

Yesterday was okay . .teetering on the edge of bad. I had EatnPark buffet for breakfast which basically consisted of a strawberry muffin, a spoon of homefries, a piece of bacon, and three little apple frittery things. AND a 1/3 of an order of fries w/gravy.

Lunch was half of a small buffalo chicken sandwich from Uncle Charleys.

Dinner was Chili's 2 boneless buffalo wings, a cheese stick, and two chicken fajitas.

Again, I didn't stuff myself but I could have made healthier choices.

I'm not giving up though! I have my meals planned out for the day. I am packing great snacks for tomorrow. I am planning ahead and that is the key!

I am PLANNING on doing the 2 mile Walk Away the Pounds later this afternoon. My In laws are coming to my parents house for a potato soup dinner. . which I am substituting with Progresso Garden Veggie soup.

Should be a relatively early evening!
