(¯`•. (¯`•. Joni's February Journal .•´¯) .•´¯)

Well, I was going to ask if they were really "bad days" or just "bad meals" but obviously you were having too much fun :p

When dealing with a mom, you may just want to go look up the nutritional information online and show it to her, instead of telling her to go look it up herself; a lot of people will never do it for many reasons.

If tracking "how long" is de-motivating you, then you shold definitely avoid it, but keeping your starting info and weight charts SOMEWHERE will be good for you to look back on, when you are closer to your goals. "Look what I have lost already" is often a great ego and willpower boost.

I think it's great that you are on a plan you can live with, even if it isn't "rapid", but don't be satisfied with NO loss until you are satisfied with your body. You are the one who ultimately has to live in there, so make sure it is someplace you like to be.

I noticed you missed breakfast 2 of those days, and the third it was just a convenience food... Have you thought about buying a ocnvenience food just to have for breakfasts? I have packages of sandwiches that I microwave for 2 minutes and they magically become food. It really helps with my hunger for the rest of the day, and it's pretty much an automatic habit, at this point.

Okay, done typing. I really appreciate what you are saying, and it helps me in many ways, so don't wander off on us for too long :D Just keep having a good time and enjoying your food.

Oh! And there is NOTHING WRONG with Roast beef, mashed potatoes, and green beans, as long as you don't smother it all in butter and gravy! :p

I am normally really good about breakfast. I nag my husband about it. I find if I eat breakfast, I don't need as much at lunch to fill me up and I don't snack all morning.

But I kinda knew Friday and Saturday were going to be busy busy busy and that we would be eating fastfood. I guess I skipped breakfast just because.

I typically have a bowl of cheerios or a bagel with a little creamcheese.

Yesterday went okay. Breakfast - bagel with a little creamcheese . . snack 1 oz combos . . .Lunch - Hamburger Happy Meal & snack wrap . . Dinner - 1/2 serving of stirfried noodles and chicken (Excellent low fat recipe!)

Typically we take our lunch break around 11. We walk over to Subway if it's not too cold, or if it is we drive. Yesterday we were really busy and didn't break until 12:15. Subway had a line back to the door. So we went to McDonalds.

At dinner, my daughter was very cranky. She is getting her back teeth and is just miserable. I ate about 1/2 serving and then left to get her to sleep.

I still fit in my sparkpeople targets so I'm pleased with the day. I didn't get a chance to exercise. I worked 8 hrs at work (plus 1 1/2 drive time), 3 hrs at home, cooked dinner & cleaned up, and managed my daughter.

I did do the 3 mile WOTP tape Sunday and I'll also do it today, so the time and calories burned will even out for the 3 days.

I gained about a 1lb. It's hard to gauge with the fluxuation. But I'll go with a pound. Hopefully it comes off this week with a little more. I'm going to up my water intake as much as I can, even if it's just a glass.

It sounds like things could be worse for you; at least you are fitting into your target calories and getting good exercise :D

1 pound is probably no big deal, but it IS going in the wrong direction. I feel for you, and for the daughter with the dental pain; that is never fun.

Yesterday went pretty well. If I had to guess, I probably went over by about 300 calories. I walked 2 miles with the WOTP dvd. The scales have not been friendly but I'm feeling confident.
Monday 191, Tuesday 191, Wed 192, Thurs 191

All I can do is keep at it. . .We are having meatloaf, mash potatoes, and green beans. I think I can behave. I am going to a Mary Kay party tonight. The host is serving veggies with dip. I can handle the added cals from the dip :). And I am making an angel food cake filled with jello and mandarin oranges, iced with low fat cool whip.

Ah well. It could be worse!

Hey you - Ive been out sick - just droppin in to say hi and will catch up later - hope you have been doing ok!!!:):):)

One nice thing you can do for yourself in those social situations is to simply ask ahead of time "Will there be low-cal dressing for dip?" If not, ask if you can bring or make some. I don't know of many party hosts who would have a problem with that sort of thing; and it might make life a lot easier on you.

How is it going today?

I've just been catching up with your diary.

I so agree with other posters about the women who've had the stomach operations. The reason those operations aren't for everyone is that the drs balance the dangers of the procedure against the dangers of morbid obesity. A while ago someone on here posted such a sad story about her friend who had just died of the operation leaving a little daughter behind. http://weight-loss.fitness.com/topic/7623-tragedy.html Whenever I hear about that operation now, that's the first thing I think of.

These are for carrying your daughter while you were on the treadmill. One star is not enough.

It's great to see how positively you are approaching the path you want to take and I love knowing that you (and I) have persisted with this over weeks and past difficult times because this is what makes it reasonable for us to expect to keep going with this indefinitely.

Hey everyone

I guess I fell of the wagon. Well, actually it's more like I slipped and have been hanging off the end of it by my finger tips. While I haven't had any all out pigfest, I haven't been monitoring my food closely or exercising the last three days or so.

I have been putting in some extra hours at work. Everything that I enjoy doing has been pushed to the side. The work has taken over! My husband and I work at the same office. On the days I don't go into the office, he brings home work for both of us.

I am taking back my hours! There are things I need to do each day to have that feeling of accomplishment. One is exercising. Another is going to bed with an empty sink.

So I am going to pull myself back onto the healthy living wagon. I need to weigh myself and see the damage done. :( I am really dreading it. But, if I don't do it, I won't have an accurate comparison.

Okay . .not so bad. . I'm at 191.8 which is 1.8 up from the lowest I hit. I can repair it!

Good on you for those sticky fingertips!! Good habits really help when circumstances are hard to control.

As your weight gain has come from just 3 days and you weren't bingeing, I reckon you will have a quick turn around now and keep moving forward! :)

It's probably got plenty to do with stress and too much sodium in your diet. Water weighs more than muscle OR fat, and it is easy to not notice how thirsty we get when we're under pressure, and you are definitely under pressure!
Maybe you should try a change in what you drink when you're working? If you normally drink coffee or soda (even diet), try some hot tea (and lots of water) to get a different feel to your day.
What are your specific bad eating patterns right now? If it's a matter of going out for fast food too often, you might be able to force yourself into ordering smaller portions or better foods, or even skipping the fast food and bringing a frozen meal to work with you or some other plan.
If you're snacking, consider getting some grapes or baby carrots to munch on, they are a lot better than chips or other starchy stuff. Having a rough time is something to be expected when you change the way you eat; it is a lot of work to change old patterns and habits, especially when we are around other folks who aren't doing it.

Keep working with what your plan is, Joni; you'll get there. You're not "off the track" yet, and barely off schedule. Just a couple of small changes to make and you'll be where you want to be again. :D

I have been feeling really lazy. I didn't want to cook and I didn't want to exercise. I didn't want to do anything!

I weighed this morning 190.4 - - only .4 above my lowest weight

It definitely is encouraging.

One change I'm making . . .I've stopped wasting my calories on beverages. I'm cutting out the soda completely and really trying to bump up my water intake. I love Lipton tea. The glass bottle not from concentrate kind. It's 120 cals a bottle. I am going to allow myself one bottle a day as I relish it!

I am having more success at talking myself out of bad food. If I still want it, it will ALWAYS be there. Just telling myself I'll have it tomorrow. .or the weekend. . or if I know I'm going to have a particularly busy day I will plan to eat said bad food on that day.

Well, I've got some cleaning to do! Thanks for the input!

Yeah, Joni! It's amazing how quickly that "oops, I goofed" weight comes on, but also how quickly it goes away!

I know the feeling the about not wanting to do ANYTHING. We went for a nice ride on the motorcycle yesterday - the only thing that got exercised was my butt and my arms, trying to hang on and not slide when we stop. Can I count that? LOL.

Joni - You were working so hard that it's no wonder you feel like resting. :) I'm sure you'll be moving again soon.

Hey there glad to hear and see your weight went down so hard and honestly the habits are hard to break it really does become a lifestyle change - and it is also ok to take a break for a little bit too - I get like that - tired lazy and dont want to exercise usually I ush myself to do it anyway cuz I am at that point were Iknow I need it daily - anyway you are still doing good - I willd rop in agian soon :):):)

Yesterday went well but I didn't exercise. It was on my mind all day but before i knew it, it was 9pm and I was ready for bed!

Still I'm just glad that I ate properly. I may have gone over a little by a few pretzels but I can handle that.

Today is going well too, and I am going to get my walking in BEFORE I realize it's too late! My daughter is watching the Wiggles and as soon as it's over . . .time to WALK!

Ugh. . I had a little nagging headache all day and never did get around to exercising. I did well with my food so that's one thing to be positive about!

I tried a new recipe

Baked Buffalo Chicken Recipe | Recipezaar

I shredded the chicken with two forks before baking it. Then I served it on a toasted kaiser with lettuce, tomato, onion, and a little bit of ranch & shredded cheddar cheese.

The chicken was high in fat with the butter in the sauce. Next time I'll make a substitution. Could always use low fat ranch too.

Let me just say if you like buffalo (QJAY!) this sandwich was EXCELLENT. My husband ate 4 of them and said it's the best buffalo sandwich he's ever had.

Even with the sandwich, I stayed within my daily goals.

It's old news to me :p
I've been doing chicken like that for awhile, and I usually use a splash of olive oil or several sprays of no-cal butter substitute instead of the butter/margarine; it has that good oil in it, but you could also use some of the new butter substitutes, too.
If you like the chicken fried, consider using the skillet a little TOO hot, to build up a thick "layer" of crispyness on the outside, since you don't want actual deep fried skin on it. A few pinches of bread crumbs might be good, too, and still avoid the badness of "battered and deep-fried". I do love those bread crumbs. ;)

The hot sauce really lets you "go nuts" with this dish, because there are SO many kinds of it out there. Also, don't forget to mix up the seasonings a little, try it with some garlic and onion in the mix, or just sprinkled on top.

Have fun with your cooking! :D
