No protein or carbs for cutting??

Ok, I read in a previous thread that if you want to loose fat without loosing muscle mass and get to cut up, is to cut out the protein and carbs. Are you serious, this seems very odd. I was talking to a couple of buddies of mine who are bodybuilders and right before a competition to cut up, they will not eat much(greens, tuna and shakes)and tons of water and they'll do cardio for 2 hours or so a day..Seems odd too, but they are in amazing shape..Way too much information out there, my way of thinking is to take a little bit of info from everyone and go from there. I hope all you readers out there don't take these threads as gospel, take certain pieces of info and try different things to see what works for you. What works for me or somebody else doesn't mean its going to work for you.. Good luck!!!!

I believe that for cutting, one should eat the same amounts of protein they've been eating (1-1.5g/pound), decrease carbs, and increase fats. Carbs should be eaten for the pwo and post-pwo meals, and the rest of the day's meals should consist of protein, fats, and lots of veggies.
Doing excess cardio is unnecessary if one's diet is on target.

But you're right - there are so many different ways to do this, some work better for some people, others have better results with another way. But unless you're training for a competition, there's no reason to get your body so lean that you have to eat so little and do so much cardio -

I'm curious, how do your macronutrient ratios break down?

I'm currently not counting calories/planning meals to get over some "issues", but from a typical day before I stopped counting/planning, a day that I lifted, I think it was about 25g fat, 100g cho, 145g pro. On days I didn't lift, it was about 50g fat, 75g cho, 145g pro

*edit*
I think it was more than that, cause I just added the calories and they're all too low... anyways, about the same ratios but for about 1800-2000 calories. I just don't feel like figuring it out now.
