no pain no gain????

hey guys wen ever i go to the gym and it is time to do back i work out and usually while im working out and doing exercises i dont feel the burn in my back i wonder am i doing it wrong am i not using enough weights...i do exercises such like wide grip pull-ups,staight bar rows, up rite rows. etc .... it was getting me pissed i asked my friend at skool who has been lifting for about 3 years he said that i should relax and maybe my back muscle is not fully developed he said that back is a hard muscle to develope and i shuld give it time any tips?????
 
when i felt like i wasn't working my back well, i started using straps so i didn't have to grip the bars as tight (not on pullups though). I found that the less i had to grip, the less I felt the need to use my biceps to pull the weight.

eventually i learned how to pull with the back without the need for straps. basically i lacked the mind/muscle connection and wasn't focusing on using hte lats for a lot of movements.

this may or may not be your problem, but its worth trying. drop your poundage used, and try to focus on holding the bar, and pulling your elbows down, rather than pulling your hands down.

also make sure you extend the arms up enough to full stretch the lat back out.

for pull ups, you use everything you got :)
 
^^ GREAT advice, I know many people who have had this exact prob.. Just don't let your grip strength drop, work your forearms with some wrist curls or something if you go with the straps..
 
so about the straps, is it wise to use them? if i dont do any wrist curls.
