No Day But Today - Jes' Journal

Hey, it looks like you're doing great. You can make it tomorrow! You'll be tired, you'll wake up and think to yourself that you don't want to do it, but it will be so worth it!

^ Thanks for the encouragement! Yeah, waking up today was NOT fun. I was up until 1AM watching Veronica Mars. Yeahhhhh...VERY smart idea. NOT.

BUT I DID IT. I dragged myself out of bed and made it to the gym. I had an AMAZING work-out with Jared (personal trainer) and my own work-out afterwards.

DAY 22 - 10/30/08
- 1 hour of various exercises with personal trainer
- Ran 1 miles
- Walked 3 miles at 6.0 incline
- 30 minutes on elliptical
- 7 minutes on stairmaster

Lunch: 2 slices of 98% fat free turkey on 2 slices of Sara Lee 100% multi-grain bread. I also put in 2 slices of tomatoes and 1 tbsp of fat-free mayo. On the side I had a 1 cup of chopped broccoli and 1 cup of organic baby spring mix. 2 tbsp of Hidden Valley Fat Free Ranch dressing.
Dinner: 6" Veggie Delite Sub from Subway

Total Calories: Around 982 calories.
Carbs: Around 187
Fat: Around 6
Protein: Around 51

I had a good work-out. I don't feel like Jared worked me hard enough. I did a bunch of stuff with him. Squats, crunches on half-ball with weights, side crunches, this rope thing around my feet, etc. But we also spent time doing weights. I loved it. I think that's why I don't feel as worked out. I love weights.

I only ran 1 mile. Decided to walk for a change. It was a nice change. :) The last mile I actually did on the track, no treadmill. DEFINITELY a nice change.

I am super proud of my eating habits today. I'm doing well! I'll probably have Subway tonight. I still need to drink my protein and eat 2 apples sometime during the day.

10 days till my weigh-in!!! I have to work super hard at the gym and REALLY watch what I eat.

Okay I'll stop writing a novel. :x

Thanks Anke :) <3

Yesterday I did not eat enough. Very, very bad. I was below 1,000 calories and I had a pretty strenuous work-out. Bad Jes.

I've had midterms going on so I've been super stressed. I usually eat like crazy but lately I have NOT been eating. Strange.

Today is my rest day! :) MUCH needed. My body is SO sore and just aches all over.

Can't wait to hit the gym tomorrow :) I shall update later on with what I eat today.

Anke - No it is not.

DAY 23 - 10/31/08

So today was my rest day. MUCH needed. Especially since I pulled an all nighter studying for a midterm. I was eating SO well and then for a snack I made a horribleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee choice. Bad, bad Jes! UGH if I had just NOT ate those stupid sweet rolls, I would have totally been in my calorie intake. It's okay. I will work on that tomorrow. I need to substitute a fruit or something healthier for a snack next time.

I made chicken!! I have never in my life made chicken. It was so easy and so good. I have like 0 protein in my diet. I know I could have probably ate something healthier than the mashed potatoes but I was really craving those. I don't want to completely deny my body something. It wasn't the BEST choice but I could have had something worse. Tomorrow I'll try brown rice with chicken or something. :)

I'm working an 8 hour shift tomorrow. Food is going to be all over! ;x

Oh yeah, here's my health calendar for this past month and my health collage:

I think I'm going to make a new health collage every month that I'm in the weight loss portion of this lifestyle change.

Nutrition has been pretty good so far today :) [strike]I haven't had dinner yet so I shall record that later on tonight.[/strike] I did SO well with eating today! I am so proud of myself :)

7 days till my weigh-in. I am going to bust my ass at the gym for the next week. Push myself as hard as I can.

I see improvements everyday. I love it. When I run, after I finish a mile, I always bring down the speed to a fast walk pace for about a minute or two. I just need to catch my breath. But today I ran for 2 miles continuously. Did not slow down. I started off at 7.0 pace and then I dropped to 6.5 about 10 minutes in. Then finished the second mile at 6.0. I was able to run it in 20 minutes. A personal best for me :)

I love your calendar- what a great idea!

I had a personal training session today. Wow. Just wow. Jared had an intense routine. Well, we did the stairs, which is always killer for me. I did better. I did really well with him today. I was srsly sweating buckets by the end :x

I was kind of disappointed afterwards. I didn't run my 4 miles. IDK...I was working out with a bunch of mirrors, like normally, but today I just felt HUGE. A lot of my fat is around my belly and I just felt like I looked pregnant today. Ahh, I was sooo discouraged. I need to wear looser shirts or something.

But I really need to stop with the negative attitude. So what if I didn't run 4 miles? Where does it say I HAVE to run 4 miles daily? I did 3, which is JUST as good. It's better then doing 0. I've actually already ran 10 miles and I'm halfway done with the week. My "goal" is to run 20 miles every week.

I worked hard today and I did well. I'm trying and that's what matters. :)

I also bought a food scale yesterday so now I can weigh everything and hopefully be more accurate! :)

UG! My old gym was nothing but mirrors.. I got real good at ignoring them :) Yeah, Id be scared of dropping the phone to, lol. My palm pilot has a rubber case, so it kinda sticks to everything, so i don't hafta worry bout it.. I got one for my zune to, LOVE EM! I'm good at breaking things, so uyeah...
And hey- 3 miles is AWESOME, especially on top of a pt session. Amazing job, chica, amazing!

Hey Jes,

I just read through your journal - wow!! I have just re-started after a large break and we have similar goals, but somehow I don't think I will reach mine as quickly as you will reach yours!!

The 'looking pregnant' comment really got me. Recently I went to drinks/dinner with friends and family, and one of the people there was a guy who has not seen me in over 3 years. In front of my husband, cousin, and friends he went on about how fabulous it was that I was pregnant, a little one on the way etc. All went silent, and I said I was not pregnant. He said 'but look at you, of course you are' No I am not. Then in front of everyone, for a good half hour, whilst no joke, noone else spoke (all too embarassed) , he proceeded to say ' how could you, of all people have let yourself go, it's a disgrace, I can't believe it's you, I did not recognise you' etc. It was mortifying, and in front of everyone. I wish I could have died. It was horrible, and worse, I know he will go back home and tell everyone how fat I am and how huge my stomach is, and that he thought I was pregnant.

So, I get the stomach thing too well. On the running front, I love it too and used to be quite good, and have just started the couch to 5km training. Can't wait to improve and get better!

You are going to smoke your next weigh in, and are an inspiration!

Frankie

Hi Jes, first post in your diary, but I see we share some mutual buddies here on the forum. I love your work outs. You really kick some serious booty! I was looking at some things you had said early on. The exercise part used to get me, but that is like breathing now. I get into the gym and I actually have to cut myself short sometimes because of other time commitments. I love the way I feel when I leave.

The food control... not as good... Thats what I need to work on.

Anyway, I'll stop by and say hi from now on.:waving:

hehe, had to tell you this, cuz I think I jinxed myself- I was doing my cardio, went to wipe my face off with my towel and the towel hit the cord for my earpieces- dooowwwwn went the mp3 player, and it froze, quit working. son of a bitch!

Hey, well done on the better and better running you're doing! I recently started again and am LOVING it! Cheers!

Jess - Thanks for the constant support. It really helps! Sorry about your MP3 player! That sucks! Yeah, I dropped my iPhone twice from the treadmill. I was lucky both times because it never even got a single scratch from the falls and continues to work great. BUT I can't afford to replace my phone ATM :-X I work at an Apple retail store so I took advantage of my employee discount and bought a shuffle. I LOVE it. You should seriously take a look at them! It's so tiny and I usually just clip it onto my sports bra. It's so convenient! They're pretty cheap as well.

Frankie - Thanks for dropping by :) I cannot believe that happened to you. I honestly would start crying. OMG you are a brave one. I am SO sorry you had to go through that. <333 Thanks so much for the support!

reluctantcabbie - Hey! Thank you! We're a lot alike. I love the gym and am the same way - I can spend hours in there. However, I really struggle with the eating. Totally feel you on that!

Ankebuzz - Hey you! Thank you for the encouragement :) How's your running going?

I ran 2 miles today in 19 minutes. I am soo proud of myself! I have seriously come so far in such a short amount of time. Honestly 2 months ago, it took me EIGHTEEN minutes to run a mile. It was pathetic. I wasn't even RUNNING for goodness sake. I just got drained from simply WALKING. If someone had told me 2 months ago that I would be able to run the mile in under 10 minutes, I would have laughed in their face. Now I can run 2 miles within 20 minutes. AHHH. I am so proud of myself!

It's my birthday tomorrow. Turning the big 2-0! :) I'm kind of looking forward to it. I hate getting older :p

Alright, have to pay attention in class :-X
