Hiya guys and girls!
My name in Nikki, I live in the Uk (London) and last month I underwent gastric bypass surgery. I had my surgery on Friday 11th March at Charring cross hospital. Here I am 5 weeks post surgery, feeling good and three stone lighter!
I managed to lose a stone on the two week pre op diet (low carb) and a further two stone since.
I am however a bit worried, I don't seem to have lost much more than a lb in the past week or so.... I'm not sure how accurate this is tho as every set of scales I use (including the chemist ones for 50p a go) seem to give a different reading! I was going to ring the hospital but I think they will say I am expecting too much and that 2 stone weightloss in 5 weeks is fab (which of course it is).
So, I was wondering if anyone has a similar story, or a reason as to why in this past week or so I don't seem to have lost much weight?
On a very positive note I wore a tshirt this week two sizes smaller than I usually wear!!! Yahoo :D
Thanks for reading guys, I look forward to getting to know you xXx

Hiya Nikki.

I just read through your post, and wanted to tell you that your not alone, i also had a gastric bypass operation last month (march 14th), n i had mine done at the Bupa Cromwell Hospital (although all my appts n everything else was at Chelsea & Westminster hospital) < This was because they had no free theatre spots for months on end at chelsea.

I want to reassure you that the weight loss your experiencing after the surgery is normal'ish (although it bugs me as im only losing between 2lb & 3lb a week), but in the first 2 weeks after surgery when i was on the clear fluids only diet i lost 7kg, in total so far i've lost over 2 stone, and its been 5 weeks (yesterday) since my surgery.

I talk to my mum about the weight loss or lack of it haha, and she encourages me by saying that if i lost a stone a week (for example) then my body wouldnt have time to recover properly from severely quick weight loss n id be left with heaps of excess skin (yuck!), so this is the same advice im offering you ... if you lost it too quick, it wouldnt tone up very well, n plus a loss of 1lb or 2lb a week, is still a loss ...

Doesnt matter how much you lose over a week, atleast your still losing right?! Better than putting it on lol

Well if you want to talk more, then please feel free to reply to my message or send me a personal message ...

Take care n keep it up

Kel xx

Hiya hunny,
I have had a bypass only 1 week ago, I am worried that I wont have a dramatic result as I was 15 stone in the day of my procedure. I think you have done brilliantly tho. Keep us upto date with your progress flower and I will do the same. I think weight loss with women and tracking it is difficult week to week because of our menstral cycle etc. just a thought there that you may need to consider on your last weigh in :)

hey, visit your doctor and ask for what lifestyle changes should be done? And accordingly follow your daily routine. Exercise daily and eat healthy diet. This will definitely help in losing weight.

I haven't had a bypass and feel bad that you guys had to. Operations suck lol

But, while you may want to lose weight really fast as i'm sure if you need to resort to this you are severely unhappy with your weight but 1-2lbs per week is perfect. It might not sound it but it will let the other aspects of your body catch up such as the skin.

Good luck!

Hiya all, just a message to thank you for your responses/encouragement, im currently nearly at 3 months since surgery (will be exactly 3 months on the 14th of june) and without excercise (cos i cant do it cos of my disability and being on crutches 24/7 for the rest of my life) well i do, do what i can like, but cant properly do heaps of excercise, anyways ... im now up to a total weight loss of 4 n a half stone (so far) n still losing ... so im feeling better about it now

Will keep you updated n so on ... Thanks again

Hi i am a newbi, i have had a gastric bypass four years this Dec 14th, i got down to 8st 10lb from almost 14 stone. The only thing is i have put back on 50% of my weight. I am now looking into having a Lap Band around my pouch, but again i amworried about putting weight back on after spending all that money to have the surgery again. Has anyone experienced this?
