I can tell you what the catalyst was for the change in life style i have been going through, and it is totally different then what keeps the drive to continue it going. My girl of a year and a half left me for another man on October 14th. Now she left me for reasons unrelated to my looks, but we both were heavy people. Since that day every bad, or negative activity or habit i used to do reminds me of her, and how miserable we were together. That got the ball rolling.
I quit the old life cold turkey. No soda, no friend foods, no "crap" foods ether. I knocked my diet down to 1000-1500 a day. and have been drinking only water.
I also have been doing a half hour of cardio at the gym, as well as high rep low weight anaerobic exercises for about another half hour. I push myself harder then the day previous.
I have seen results my friend. on October 14th i was 395 lbs. Today i weight 377. This is the first time in the 8 years since highschool that i have concentrated on my own health.
I'm doing it for me now. For how good i feel when i get off those machines and have worked my body out. It is a great feeling of elation, and happiness. It really got me out of the funk i was in over heartbreak.
Now that I've gotten some one over the X girlfriend, I'm looking forward to better things. She sits at home every night after her job and plays warcraft till 1 am. I'm out at the gym, or out with friends, working on nutrition, and making a better me.
Truly that is what your drive has to be. Look inside your self and find that thing that makes you want to be a better you. Once you do you will never look back or have doubts about your change in life style.
