anyone here that was over 400lbs and lost alot of weight because i would like to know how u did it i started about 2 and a half months ago 422lbs now down to 394 but i still got along way to go 250 is the goal and i need some friends please on here

Hey Boss,
Congrats on the great 28 lb start. I started my journey at 350lbs. I realize you were looking for people over 400 but it's still the same idea. I counted calories and exercised 5-6 days a week. This is a great place for information and support. Start by reading the sticky threads, there is a lot of great info in there.

One piece of advice is dont look at the end result. Focus on small goals which lead to big results. Since you are 394 make it a goal to get to 374 and focus on that. I guess a lot of weight loss can be summarized as calories in vs calories out. Remember this is not a "diet" it's a lifestyle that you will learn and be able to maintain for a long time.

Also, let me ask you this. How did you lose the 28 lbs?

Good luck and keep it up!!!

Matt

That could have been my post. I havent eaten fried food, McDs or "chinese food" in 20 months.

See that, you have the big secret everyone is looking for....eat right and exercise. Now that you know what to do, keep it going and you WILL reach all your goals. I'm sure you will have to tweak a few things along the way but motivation is the key.

Keep us updated.

Hey Boss...

I've worked with a relatively high number of clients who were 400+.

At that stage in the game, most anything works in terms of losing weight. It's primarily a matter of finding ways to remain consistent.

It's also about not doing things to the extreme IMO. Cleaning up the food selection is certainly a fantastic start and it's doing well for you.

The exercise seems a bit extreme... can I ask what exactly you're doing in the gym that entire time?

Also, are you enjoying your journey so far at all?

Well the fried food and McD's are no issue, but no Chinese!!!! Thats crazy talk!!

I have a chicken chow mein as a treat meal every once in a while...mhmmmmmmm
I do miss the 'old' chinese foods I used to eat though..parting is such sweet sorrow:(

Thanks for the friend request

I can tell you what the catalyst was for the change in life style i have been going through, and it is totally different then what keeps the drive to continue it going. My girl of a year and a half left me for another man on October 14th. Now she left me for reasons unrelated to my looks, but we both were heavy people. Since that day every bad, or negative activity or habit i used to do reminds me of her, and how miserable we were together. That got the ball rolling.

I quit the old life cold turkey. No soda, no friend foods, no "crap" foods ether. I knocked my diet down to 1000-1500 a day. and have been drinking only water.

I also have been doing a half hour of cardio at the gym, as well as high rep low weight anaerobic exercises for about another half hour. I push myself harder then the day previous.

I have seen results my friend. on October 14th i was 395 lbs. Today i weight 377. This is the first time in the 8 years since highschool that i have concentrated on my own health.

I'm doing it for me now. For how good i feel when i get off those machines and have worked my body out. It is a great feeling of elation, and happiness. It really got me out of the funk i was in over heartbreak.

Now that I've gotten some one over the X girlfriend, I'm looking forward to better things. She sits at home every night after her job and plays warcraft till 1 am. I'm out at the gym, or out with friends, working on nutrition, and making a better me.

Truly that is what your drive has to be. Look inside your self and find that thing that makes you want to be a better you. Once you do you will never look back or have doubts about your change in life style.

Keep in touch and let us know how your progress is going!

Good on you for taking action to improve your health and happiness, instead of using the break up as an excuse to binge eat and lock yourself away from the world like so many others!

Great advice, something which we could all probably do with thinking about more often:)

took me just over 2 years to lose 200 lbs...

you get started by deciding to do it and by taking a rational approach to it...

NOT seeing it as a diet, but a lifestyle change.... where your life can include your favorite things.
