Hi there...I read some of the posts today and I can actually say, I think I'm going to fit in nicely. We're all here for the same reason, to lose weight...but more importantly to become healthy! Here's my story...
I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism about 4 years ago, after they discovered a growth on my pitutary gland. (It was benign and treated with radiation and a ton of strong medications that added a ton of weight). I have lost weight with WW and am going to start at it again, only I didn't want to head back to the meetings weighing more then I did when I initially joined this time last year...so I did a search on line and here I am.
I also have been smoke free for over one year now...smoked for 10+ years...gained weight with that...and now my hubby and I want to start a family, but want to lose weight first and be healthy before we bring a child into the mix of things. So I went on the scale today...and I am currently at the heaviest I have EVER been...I can feel it in my knees and feet when I walk...so its now or never, I will do this...with your help it will happen. So let the journey begin!
If anyone can show me the ropes here, or want to buddy up, and be firm but fair and tough but fair with me (and visa versa) PLEASE let me know...I am aiming for at least 20 lbs before Christmas, which is only 2.5 lbs a week...I can do that!!
Thanks, VG

so don't be discouraged! I've taken to going swimming 3x weekly, hoping to incorporate weights at some point (when I can get some!) and I'm counting calories. The food bit is quite easy actually, I've put myself on 1,700 per day... but end up in bed at night with a sandwich and a couple of yogurts, just to make up my needed calories!
