hi i am terri i have just started to diet and exercise. I decided I wanted to join the National Guard and found i needed to lose some weight and body fat. I currently weigh 204lbs and have a body mass of 38%. I need to get to at least 168lbs and a body mass of 34% to be eligible to join. I have downloaded exercizes and diet tips from the National Guard website and i think i could do them but i am worried my willpower will give up on me after i get started working out and find how hard its going to be. I need all the encouragement i can get. My husband and kids are behing me 100% and my husband got me on here so i could talk with others and we can encourage each other to keep going and get to our goals. I am open to any and all advice that will keep me going and get me to my dream.

Hello :) I have the same motivation problem, i think nearly everyone does at the start. I have just started the Cohens Lifestyle diet and I am a week into it and can already see and feel a difference. I have tried countless diets before but the one difference this time is that I am 100% commited. I am going to be having children and rasing a family in a few years and I know that the best way to be a good mother and wife (when it comes to that) is for me to lose the weight. You just need to focus on why you are doing this and focus on what's important. All that junk food will be there when you are done! :)

Welcome Terri,
I am new on here as well and joined for the support and to be encouraged by other peoples' stories. My will power and motivation hasn't been that great in the past but this time has been different. I started 8 weeks ago and have lost 20 lbs so far. What has worked for me is to break up my weight loss goal (99lbs.) into mini goals so I don't get discouraged when I realize I still have a long way to go. I started working out 5x's a week (I was doing absolutely no exercise before starting) and completely overhauled my diet. When it got hard I talked to people who would encourage me. I started posting my check-ins to the gym on facebook as well so if i missed a workout ALL of my friends would know. Hopefully some of this helps you. GOOD LUCK!!

I started the diet yesterday and got clearance from my dr. to start excercising today. I will be doing my first full workout tomorrow morning so we will see how it goes. I have been doing small exercises with my arms and a five pound medicine ball. I am a little sore today but not near as bad as I thought it would be.

Hey lowgirl,

My suggestion would be similar to HisMrs'... If you're worried about the workouts being to hard, cut the initial workouts down into something that seems more manageable. You might be much more motivated to do the next workout if you can complete the first few without too much difficulty!

Good luck and keep us posted on your progress!

Thanks for the tip I didnt think about starting slow I was going to just jump in and go but i am seeing that that might not be a great plan. Today me and my husband went for a 3.3 mile bike ride and walked the other .7 mile and I feel great!! We had an Egg Beater omelet this morning with a piece of turkey bacon and a touch of cheese. I had a couple of pieces of whole wheat toast very lightly buttered. this afternoon I had a low fat ham and cheese sandwich with 1/4 tsp of mayo and a little but of mustard. Later today we are going for a walk with the kids and are supposed to do some regular exercises after lunch settles. I am not a big fan of sit-ups but I will do them and get used to them because I hear you gotta do alot of them in the National Guard.

No worries,

Just start slow and you'll get there eventually! As for the sit-ups, yes unfortunately, this may be a part of your testing. I would suggest strengthening the core first with things like planks and back extension holds, then progress to crunches, then sit-ups. In my opinion, you want to try to reduce the risk of injury as much as possible before starting full sit-ups (you might be able to tell that I'm not a fan of full sit-ups?).

Good luck and let us know how things are going!

Welcome to your new lifestyle. Permanent changes require permanent changes. Eat well, get fit, and feel good. GL to you!

Congratulations!

I was reading your posts and felt urge to give you my support in your weight loss

mission.

You need to readjust some of your nutritional choices. Try to avoid bacon, mayo, butter

and cheese. Replace them with something like yogurt, almond nuts, beans.

I was working as a detox specialist in the biggest Spa company for 8 years. Trust me, I

saw thousands in my treatment room. People from all over the world with the same

dream, with the same pain and fears. They wanted to get their body back. They were

looking for happiness and joy in their life by being healthy, attractive and on shape.

Some of them had some improvements, some other were just away behind.

I wanted to help to anybody, whoever was in my little kingdom. The difference between

them was the will to change, the courage to meet their fears and see that there is only one person who is your enemy:
You!
You got the strength to wake up in the morning, you are the one who takes

responsibilities about somebody elses business.

You are the only one who can change your own body.

Picture yourself right there where you want to be and keep this picture all the time insight your mind.

I call it inspiration. Inspiration will give you the strength to lose weight, inspiration will

make you look and feel more beautiful from outside, too.

Just by feeling the strength, your hormones work differently. They will kick you going to

the gym, having your hot water, taking your supplements, being picky in the restaurant,

loving yourself and your wonderful body. No more diets, no more weight loss programs, no more being ashamed on the beach!

Just you, the one who you are, healthy, on shape, lean, with energy and sexy.
