New Year, New Thread for Those who Weigh 200 lbs/90 Kg or More

Bubbles

I HATE plateaus!! I am so glad you broke yours :) It is hard to keep pushing through it but if you just keep at it (calories in<calories out) you know it HAS to change!

Great job!

natalie jo - keep at it, try to ignore the little fluctuations, that's all they are - I try to look at the big picture, although it is hard at times...

:banghead:

it gets better...

Hey Ali..
Thanks for the advice. Its probably water weight from eating the salty pretzels ..one week I gained somewhere around five to nine pounds on the salt in the pretzels, once I cut them out of my diet I went back down and even went lower, so the salt has got to go, but no I ate some today!! Whats a girl to do...

but anyway .. I also had a mint muskateer.. they have had so many commercials on it. I just wanted to try it once lol, because I used to love muskateers, at least now I know what I will be missing lol I think I drool everytime the comercial comes on lmao

anyway ... I hope I have not hit a plateau.. I hate them so much, but I wouldnt be surprised, seeing as I have lost 22 pounds ..so the plateau is bound to show up anytime ..

my goal is to be 275 by May .. I think I can handle that ..about three pounds .. yes I can .. I estimate up, because of just what you said ..flucations ...

so ttylater Ali

you have a awesome day!

so hey guys and gals,

I am thinking the constant munching on the pretzels is what is making me go up in weight. I have noticed a trend since before Tuesday ..a rise of a pound or two.. the only thing that has changed is me eating pretzels once again ..and I have had them in semi large quantities ..

Pink Clouds looks like we both got the salt bug!! lol
I am sure you will drop below me hun!
but we are neck and neck. I like having someone around what I weigh..
but I have to say hun ..we can do this ..all of us!
All of you .... your so awesome
keep your heads held high
and keep trecking

love yas

thanks for the support :) I totally hear what you are saying, slower is better...it took me forever to get like this, I can't expect it to disappear overnight (I can't??? Dang it!!! hehe)

Regarding the mint musketeer, I think one of the reasons I am succeeding this time (as opposed to all of my previous attempts) is because rather than cutting out entire categories of things, I will allow myself small portions of things I like and cut back somewhere else to accomodate that choice.

I have a thing for chocolate, more so when I am not 'supposed' to have it, so what i do is buy bags of Hershey's Kisses or Dove chocolate squares, which are 20-40 cals/piece. I can have some chocolate so I don't feel deprived and the calories are not a deal-breaker, you know?

I also do that if we eat out somewhere and my friends get an appetizer I like or I want to have a drink...I will make sure I eat more salads or just less through the day. This way I don't feel as if I am missing out.

I don't know if it will work for you or not but I have been fighting this for so long and this has worked for me. The biggest problem I had in the past was feeling deprived and this way, I don't.

The other thing that helps is that I know because of the exercise I do that gives me a little more latitude as well. It took me a long time to get where I am with that, but if you do a little more physical activity, you have a little more freedom with the food.

As for salt, as long as you know what it does to your weight, then I woudn't worry about it.

You are going to reach your goals :) I know it!!!

have a great weekend!

ps - I finally started a diary...let's see if I can keep up with it...

Neat guys! I was just writing on my other thread about how I have finally (why WHY did it take so long?) realized that I just lose weight slowly. For some odd reason if I work out a minute and make one nutritious choice I expect myself to be 122 the next day. So I'm working on making a lifestyle and not seeing myself as winning or losing but just making choices that affect how I'll feel.

Spartacus - I am the same way, I feel like, ok, I have finally started doing this right - WHY IN GOD'S NAME AM I NOT THERE YET?!?!?!?!?!?!

You get the point :)

What I have found is that if I make the right choices and exercise as I should, the rest will just follow. I may be 100 by the time I get there, but I WILL get there.

Congrats on the 5 lb weight loss Bubbles.....that is so cool! Halfway to your goal is just around the corner and those pounds will melt off of you like butter.

OMG Kevi...wetted 2 1/2 shirts?!?!?!?! I have never sweat so much in my life! Maybe that's my problem  Well maybe not, I am a woman after all :p

Aliiiiiiiiiiiii :D I think its smart to sell that one to fund the purchase of a new one. Two things I love in this world are Mozilla Firefox and Dooney and Bourke :p I also want one more black purse, I saw it the last time i went to the outlet, but I do not know if they have more. I go to the outlet an average of once a year and do my fair share of damage when I am there. CaRrOt CaKe OMG...the one from Publix is so darn good! U know when TOM is here the weight loss does tend to slow down, don't worry about it. You are safely away from 200 and there is nowhere to go but down from here. Its good to lose weight at a slower pace although it pisses us off greatly, but you have been doing so good, don't let the time frustrate you.

Hey Nataliejo, thanks for being so sweet and supportive.:hurray: I am really going to need it for the next few weeks. I am not going to be so strict, but I am going to really dedicate myself to this lifestyle change. I never really give it all I got, and I think I am worth it. Not only that but CONFESSION....and please everybody, I do not want to hear...oh you should not lose weight for that reason, because I think whatever the reason is, if it motivates you to lose weight and you succeed, then it is a good reason LOL...well okay as long it is a reason that has a certain amount of morality and you lose weight it is a good reason. My confession, I want to take revenge!! Revenge on all the people that have bothered me about my weight, revenge on all of the stores that have not sold me clothes I like. REVENGE!!! Revenge on stores like Cache that told me they do not sell clothes in my size and practically ran me out of their store :cuss:(and i was accompanying someone thin who was looking at clothes, I did not even want anything!!) On friday I ate junk as i told you, but everyone at work was eating junk. I even bought a bag of jellybeans and fed so many people from it LOL but they were all acting as if I was the source of all fatness and negative food influence, when in reality, they were the ones asking me to eat with them. There are even a few on "strict" diets who were making slick comments. So I said to myself, "Ginger, you can do this! Lets show these naysayers what we are made of. (well what we are made of beneath the fat)." So now I am on a peaceful rampage to get back in good health and recover the precious body God blessed me with.

About the salt, yes it does cause water retention and weight gain, but like Ali said, I don't think we should worry about it because we know the effect it has on us. So at least we know if we gained 5 lbs over the weekend it was water and not fat. I was reading that although so many diets discourage the use of salt so that you can see a greater amount of weight loss quickly, healthy weight loss requires salt because salt retains water that the body needs for digestion and other important functions. Of course in extreme excess it is not good, but it should not be taken out of our diets. I remember one time in my life i used to eat so many pretzels that I would bite them and align them in a way to spell my name...what the heck is wrong with me!! :rotflmao: I really enjoyed pretzels tho.

Yeah Spartacus, I am like you. If I eat good one day I go on the scale the next and expect to see a loss LOL But even for skin elasticity, slow weight loss is recommended. But for me, fast weight loss is desired :D

Ginger- I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have two points to make on this - once, when I was in college, I remember reading an interview with Donna Karan (DKNY) and she was asked why she did not make her clothing in plus sizes, here response was something to the effect of, a plus size woman did not represent what her line was supposed to be and the clothing would not look appropriate on someone larger. EXCUSE ME!!!!! That was the gist of it and I swore at that moment that if I ever got thin - I would NEVER purchase anything she sold. I hear she is now selling a plus line. That's too bad because she will never see one penny of my money.

I had a similar situation when I was shopping for a wedding dress - the woman in the store told my mother (she couldn't even talk directly to me) that they did not 'have' anything for me, but feel free to come back and shop for my bridesmaids.

On my darker days I want to rub every person who ever picked on me or made me feel bad for being fat face it my new thinness. That isn't nice but sometimes I don't think how I have been treated over the course of my life was very nice.

That being said, generally I am very happy :) But the level to which some people stoop is just terrible. I am sure that they pay for their actions somewhere along the way :)

We are all here for you as you dedicate yourself to the 'change' it is hard but everytime you make a good choice over a bad one, that is a victory worth celebrating :) YOU CAN DO IT!!!! We all can.

Hey Ali ..
Thanks for your advice! It has helped ..the only thing is that if I bought a bag of chocolate .. I would probably binge on it the next night lol not that ..that is funny ...but it is sad ... I have this whole food addiction thing and sometimes I binge ..like last night I ate a thirteen suger cookies ..not exactly the best thing to eat ..
somehow I still weighed in low and I think its because I didnt eat much during the day.. I go to the fridge ..but than I ask myself "Why am I here?" and than I just close it back up .. u know ..

so I think that is working for me
as far as the salt ..going to try and cut a little more out ...
and I am going to start eating low sodium soup ...for lunch ... shake up my diet a little ..all good ..

thanks for your advice hun

To Nata and Pink, munching food sucks... I've been wanting to eat some burgers in the last 2 months, but I kind of avoided it, but I planned today to buy some haha.
What about a challenge guys? Say, to the people that has the "Salt Bug" Will not eat food with salt for a week and see which one of you loses the most weight :). Anyone can join, but i'm not joining since I'm gaining muscle weight at the same time :(.

Hey!!Guess what folks.. I have lost another pound...does to 275.2!! Whoot Whoot!!

Hello everyone! I haven't been around in awhile, just been kind of busy with...well, life. Work is crazy and lots of other things going on.

Still been at it with the exercise and watching what I eat, but I went up 3 lbs! :eek2:  :banghead: It finally went down 2 this week, and I know I'm not doing anything 'wrong', just a little frustrating when I feel like I'm working my butt off and the scale goes up instead of down. Of course, all my friends said...well, you have been lifting weights and muscles weigh more than fat...yada, yada, yada.... :puke:  Yeah, but I want those numbers to go DOWN!!

I know, it will. I figure in the next few weeks I'll start working out more because I will be able to walk in the evenings after work and it will be fresh vegetable season before too long, which I love. So I think I'll start seeing more of a downward trend before too long *crossing fingers*

I dont know Kevi... there is salt in everything lol that would be a tuff challenge, but I would love a burger. lol That would be awesome!! At least a McDonalds burger ..man I haven't had McDonalds for a few months and that was only once lol and than it has been probably a year or so since I have eaten junk food .. thats why I lose 42.6 pounds lol and I am going to keep it up ... :)

Thanks for the suggestion on the challenge

it felt good to be out and was kind of cool to be out during icky weather ..the rain was nice and cool ..but it was warm enough ..my face is red and a little cold ..but I feel refreshed .. :driving:

haha natalie, what a creepy guy to keep you off from walking haha!
I went to the gym as well and worked out by myself today and weighed myself while full and salty lol. I weighed in at exactly 209, i'm seeing sign that i might be under 205 now or around 206 :). I'm gonna keep up the good work. And my plans is shattered for now too, because i'm going to go get my car fixed for 3 days so yeah i probably cant work out tue-thursday. :( oh well

On that challenge, why not try it...?

Kevi I dont have an awesome neighborhood ..so he freaked me out ..because he stopped walking and kind of kept looking at me lol so I was like .."ok I am just going to take this right to avoid him" lol ...

so the walk was cut short by ten minutes ...but I am going to try and do thirty minutes and if I can do the forty five minutes that would be wonderful .. I have to go up to care pharmacy anyway..so actually I will be going on the forty five minutes walk to get there ..they are on the loop I walk ... so yea!! Good reason to go on the forty five minute walks!!

Guys .. I am going to do it!! Forty Five minute walk, here I come!! lol

and I will never do well in the salt challenge ..there is salt in everything Kevi.. I dont think a salt challenge is possible ...
but I dont want to do many challenges ..so I have two going on now ..

but it might be something to think about ..but I dont think it would be necessarily doable lol
