New year, new me

I know it sounds convenient... everybody makes the same resolution, right but you have to start SOME DAY... so why not now.

Here are my goals...

To feel better about myself and increase my self confidence (an all-time low) and to lose weight (an all-time high)...

To keep track of my calorie intake and keep it to under 1200/day.

To drink more water (at least 3 glasses per day)...

To reach 189 lbs by mid Feb, 177 lbs by the end of March, and 165 by mid May (and then we'll see where we are)

Made it through the first day!

Okay...one down. In a slightly better mood today... I know I can do this! I have had a bit of a headache yesterday and today (my body trying to adjust to not eating so much junk I'm sure) but I know that will go away by the end of the week.

Think I need to buy a new scale. Mine only gives half pound and not ounces. It might help keep me motivated to see even small changes.

I did really well in keeping to my goals yesterday. Hopefully same will be true today. I know that I will be out running around tonight after work and dinner will be on the run as well but I am hoping to keep it to a chicken salad or something similiar instead of Wendy's.

Day three

Okay so I am down three lbs and under 200 is staring me right in the face (YEAH!!!)

While I know that there is NO WAY I am going to be able to keep up at this rate 93 lbs in 2 days) it's nice to see progress to stay motivated.

Today's motivation is to get under 200 ASAP! Once I'm under the motivation is definately to stay that way but I may need to find something else to keep it going down at a constant level.

This weekend is going to be crazy as we are moving almost my entire house and I am going to be tempted to just grab pizza and go but I WILL resist and try to keep track of my calories and drink all my water. Wish me luck!

One Week Down.. Too many to count left!!

All in all not a bad week. I am down 4.5 lbs and I my head says that I shouldn't expect that every week but God I want too (and more!)

So far my willpower has stayed strong. I actually think it'll be easier during the week than on weekends because I can keep myself fairly regimented by keeping my office stocked with good choices. Life at home is far too chaotic to even think about even one meal at a time.

With the continued move to a new house and the fact that my oven is broken I am not sure what dinner looks like for the next week but I am going to try to stay away from takeout and tons of carbs (maybe omlettes for dinner tonight?)

Looking at my goals I am trying not to be discouraged by how long its going to take me to hit my first goal but I know I should do this slowly in order to keep it off. It's so easy to type that...not sure I believe it...

At any rate, hope everyone else is doing well. Still looking for a buddy who is trying to keep their hands occupied by typing...

Congratulations!! 4.5 lbs is amazing. Don't deprive yourself too much though... Keep up the good work! ;D

Hi there!

Thanks for the words of encouragement! It's nice to know that there are people out there who struggle with the same issues. Its also nice to know that there is someone to hold you accountable...even if its someone you never met!

Good luck soon2beskinny!

Thanks Cinderelly. I am sort of afraid it's all water weight and this is going to hit a big brick wall but I am going to stick with it! ;)

Thought for the day.. I'm nuts!

We are never happy are we.

I planned on losing 2-3 lbs per week because I figured that's the healthy way to do it and keep it off. That of course frustrated me because it was going to take soooo long to take off 50 lbs.

So now I have lost 6.5 lbs in a little over a week and am a little concerned it's coming off too fast and I won't be able to sustain it. Geez, I really am a basketcase!!!

Hi Resa,
I would really recommend, not looking at the calendar, and plotting quite so much.

Weightloss is *generally* a slow process, and it is does not always follow it's same pattern - eat the EXACT same thing morning, noon and night, no differentiation, no cheating, and you'll still lose a different amount from week to week.

Take the 6.5 loss without being concerned, and know that the extra from that will help cover the weeks where you don't lose anything.

Be sure you're eating enough calories to keep your metabolism working and remember - take it one day at a time, all pounds come off the same way, one at a time.

It's not a race you're in, it's a life style - don't try to rush life or you'll end up frustrated!

Good luck to you on your journey!

I completely understand how you feel, ive lost 10 pounds in 11 days, seriously every morning when i step on the scale it is one more pound down, it seems unhealthy but im eating very well and working out most every day, i want to lose a pound every day, that would be so great but i know it will slow down and i sooo dont want it to, my goal is 4 pounds a week, i dont think thats too much!! hopefully i can do it! youre doing great!
