New Year, New Diary, New Ambition...

Well, I started slacking off on my last diary and I feel as though I can not go back to it. I feel like I have to start a new one... a new fresh start. So here it is, newmommy1's 2nd diary, the one that will hopefully see me through to the end of this weightloss journey. I was keeping my last diary to get motivation from others which did help me for a time. Then the comments started to dwindle and so did my motivation. This diary is for me though. Other people's comments are welcomed but the diary is mainly so that I will hold myself accountable for my lifestyle. I'll post once a day at the end of the day to say what I've eaten, how many calories, and how much I've exercised. Also, I'll give a quick paragraph about how I'm feeling on this journey. I'll weigh in once a week on Fridays. I'll report my weight on here, on the FSD club and I'll change my ticker accordingly (if I figure out how to change it again, lol)

-- How much weight do you want to lose? I'm not sure exactly what my weight is right now, it's between 137-139, so I would like to lose 12-14 lbs, bringing me down to 125 lbs.

-- What is the timeframe for reaching your target weight? I would love to reach this weight by My birthday, February 11th, but considering I'm nursing a baby, I don't think that's entirely reasonable. A more reasonable goal, which I would be happy with, is to lose the weight by the middle of March.

-- How do you want to accomplish your goal (what methods do you want to use)? To lose the weight I am going to cut calories down to 1500 a day. Burn around 200 calories a day 5 days a week on the exercise bike (about 40 minutes a day) and do 23 minutes of strength training each night, 5 days a week. Also, breastfeeding helps because she takes about 500 calories away from me a day.

-- Who or what can support you in reaching your goal? My husband is probably my biggest supporter. He loved me just as much at 180 lbs as he does right now but he wants me to be happy with myself. He has made me a computer program to count calories and is just all around great at helping me on my weightloss journey. Also I want to be healthier to set an example for my baby girl.

-- How realistic is your goal? I think that my goal is very realistic. I will have to lose about 1.3 lbs a week to obtain this goal. Of course, If I get hit with another plateau it might be a different story, but all around I'd say that it's obtainable.

-- When will you start? Well... Technically I've already started the weightloss journey...but this last part... the last 13 lbs or so, I'm starting that today.

Well, I'll be on a bit later to make my nightly post :)

I understand the whole thing with slacking off. Sometimes a new start is just what you need. :) By the way, you and your daughter are so darling together. You both look so happy in your picture...beautiful! We're pretty similar in our weights/goals...so your positive attitude is a great motivation for me!

Take care, happy new year!

Glad to see you here again. I am trying harder now to. The holidays really shut me down. So good luck on the last of your journey. I also have 13lbs. till I am done, so I'm with you all the way!!:)

Hi everyone! Thank you so much for the encouragement. It feels good to be back on here again.

Well, today I did really good. I exercised and ate well. It was a very relaxing day around the house. Well... as relaxing as it can be with a 5.5 month old baby, lol. My husband is putting together the curio cabinet that my mom got me for Christmas so I thought I would steal away a few moments to write what I've eaten today. Here's the menu

Breakfast: 8 oz. Chocolate milk and 4 mini chocolate covered donuts (410)

Lunch: Chicken Alfredo (420)

Snack: grapes (90)

Dinner: Chicken noodle soup from the crockpot with 10 club crackers. (415)

Snack: Smartpop popcorn (120)

Beverages: 8 - 8 oz. glasses of Crystal light (40)
Diet A&W (0)

Total: 1495 calories.

For exercise I rode the Exercise bike for 30 minutes, burning approximately 200 calories and I did my Denise Austin Core Complete workout. The workout is a 5 minute warm up and then 18 minute full body exercise on the exercise ball. I absolutely adore it and even though some people think Denise is annoying, I think her constant (that's right, shape it ,contour it, you got it...) stuff is what keeps me going. Well, gotta go play with the baby, she's growing so fast!!! She's rolling over so much now, every time she gets the chance!

Tomorrow I'm trying a south beach diet meal, some kind of wrap. It might not be any good but it's worth a try since it's only 220 calories for the 2 wraps and a jello pack. Bye!

Hey. Happy New Year.

My diary has got a bit like that but I'm sticking with the old one for now, I think.

I think you've done really well, you've lost it fast too... is that everything you're doing, keeping to 1500cals and doing the cardio/weight training?

Sprite, well, my weight loss journey has been an interesting one, lol, and you're probably not looking for my life story :p But it's probably good for me to tell the story of my weightloss anyway. I was 182.5 lbs when I found out I was pregnant a few Days after Thanksgiving (2005). I got horrible morning sickness and lost 15 lbs in the first 10 weeks, bringing me down to 165. I maintained at that weight until I was about 4.5 months pregnant and I was diagnosed with gallstones. To keep the gallbladder atacks away I had to eat a diet of only 20 grams of fat a day. I stayed 165 lbs until I was about 30 weeks pregnant and then I started to swell up with water, my feet were so swollen I couldn't wear shoes, lol. So then I started gaining weight, but the doctor told me that it was all water weight. At 36 weeks 6 days along, the day before I gave birth, I was 180 lbs. I gave birth on July 19th, had gallbladder surgery on the 21st and went home on the 22nd. I weighed myself at home and had lost 12 lbs, bringing me down to 168, I had to go back into the hospital on the 23rd though, because of a variety of problems, a pulmonary embolism and a leak in my bile duct. I was in a lot of pain to the point where I could hardly move. In the hospital I had to have more surgeries to correct the leak in my bile duct. During my 2.5 week stay I barely ate a bite or two of each meal on most days and for two days straight I ate nothing at all because I was in too much pain. When I got out of the hospital for good I was down to 148 lbs. 3 weeks after the birth of my baby I had lost 32 lbs. Well, after a couple of months things were starting to get back to normal and so were my eating habits. I weighed myself in late October and found that I was back up to 152 lbs. It was at this point that I decided to make a conscious effort to try to lose weight. I started cutting my calories down to 1600 a day, after a week of that and seeing that my milk supply was still good I cut down to 1500 a day. between that and breastfeeding my baby I lost 13 lbs in about 6 weeks. Then I hit a plateau and was on that for about 3.5 weeks. I decided now, to start adding exercise and that has helped me of of my plateau and I lost 3.5 lbs before Chrstmas. during the Christmas and New Years holidays I slacked off of the exercise and calorie cutting but amazingly maintained the weight. Now I'm back here to take off the last 13 lbs. :)

Well, today went very well, again. I had a relaxing day around the house, Abby had a good nap and that gave me some time to do some reading in my novel. I did very well on my diet today. Here's what I had:

Breakfast: granola bar (100)

Snack: grapes (180)

Lunch: South Beach Diet meal (220)

Snack: Cheez-its (260)

Dinner: Breakfast Sandwich W/ fried potatoes (620)

Snack: popcorn (120)

Total: 1500 calories

Exercise: 200 calories on the exercise bike and then the 23 minute complete body workout. I should note that I have been having nausea after exercise. I looked it up on google and found a site that said it usually happens after over exertion during exercise or when you end an exercise too quickly... I'm not sure which one it is for me.

So, I can't wait to weigh in on Friday. I'll check back in tomorrow to say how I did. :)

That happens to me too! I thought it might have been from drinking cold water or exercising in the cold.

I took down the Christmas tree and put away the decorations which kind of made me sad but that's pretty much all I've done today besides taking care of lttle Abby. who, by the way, was the biggest Crankiest little thing EVER last night.grrr. Good to see you back! Congratulations at getting back on track - it's that persistence that really makes the most difference in the end. I looked up your profile to find your new diary. I just love the photo of you with Abby as a new baby - such a special time.
