New to Weight Training -- Need Some Place to Start...

I'm new to weight training. I'm currently trying to loose some pounds as well.

I'm doing 20 minutes of HIIT and would like to incorporate weight training. I know some basic stuff, but I have some questions.

1) Should I be doing many reps with little weight or few reps with a lot of weight?
2) How many exercises per muscle should I do?
