Hi I am new to this whole thing. I am 21 and just want to lose weight and tone up. Why is this so difficult! I live in Florida where so much of my time is spent in a bathing suit and I am SO not comfortable in one. I just want a flat stomach and to feel confident at the beach rather than avoiding positions where my fat bunches up. I will try and put up dates as I go. I have been working out for two weeks and only loss two pounds but I guess I have to change my diet now. I love food so this will be hard :(

I love food too. I love good foods like tacos, chili, turkey burgers, broccoli, peppers, etc though.

Good luck, you should see good results in no time with the proper actions.

Hi there

Welcome to the forum!

We have very similar goals (I started at 165 and want to get down to 130 or 135) and we're the same age. I'd love to look hot in a bikini! But I guess up here in Washington (State) there isn't as much pressure to walk around half naked.
Check out the stickied threads, there's a lot of health and weight loss info posted by the experts on the site. I recommend using thedailyplate.com if you plan on calorie counting when you change your diet. It's very helpful and has all sorts of common food already calculated out. It'll give you a recommended daily calorie intake based on your weight/height/age. I use it every day :).
You must already got some tone under there because I wouldn't pinpoint you above 140. I suppose you could be tall, but you still look much thinner than 155!
Good luck on your weightloss, see you around!

Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha! I totally know what your talking about when you talk about hiding the fat rolls. I have did that every summer on the beach for the past four years :p But, this summer I'll be strutting my stuff and you will be too! Good luck!

I just signed up with the dailyplate.com and so now I can track everything I eat I love how that had EVERYTHING I ate yesterday already programmed in there with the nutritional info. It says I can eat about 1900 calories a day and still lose 1-2lbs a week if I stick with my exercise program but I am going to try and only eat about 1,500 so hopefully that will help. I have never been on a diet or had to watch what I eat so this shall be interesting.....

Great! Love that you love thedailyplate...
I don't mean to stick a fork in your plan but...
I wouldn't go too far under their recommendations. If your calorie level is too low, and you're working out a lot, then your body can go into starvation mode and hold onto the fat instead of burning it off. If your recommended calories without exercise is 1200 (never go below 1200 by the way...or so I've been told) and then you work off 400 calories, you still want to eat 1600 calories or so. Your body uses up tons of calories anyhow just by breathing, digesting etc. The recommendation allows for a calorie deficit so you can lose the weight. If you increase the deficit too much, like by working out a lot and not supplying extra calories to your body, it goes into starvation mode.
Steve, wishes, and all the other head honchos on the forum can tell you more about this if you want to know more.

I haven't really noticed a change in my weight but my body fat percentage went from 25.2% to 23.8%. Holler lol :)
