New Routine

So, i just got back to the gym after bein away for a week snowboarding in Colorado. Spoke with a new trainer at the gym and he is going to help me set up a routine for this coming semester. He is setting up a schedule for me to go 4x a week weight training splitting it up by muscle groups.

1. Back/Rear Delt
2. Chest/Front Delt
3 Quad/Hams
4. Bi/Triceps

Today we did day 1, back and rear delt. He had me do 4 back exercises. 3 sets of 12. We did Lat pull down, seated rows, a lower back machine superset with hyperextensions. After that we did 2 rear delt exercises, one was the chest fly machine backwards and another was on an assisted bench machine where i stood in front of the back and lifted it up till my arms are parallel to the floor practically. He had me goin heavy and it was tough but bein 5'7 and now around 175 it was suggested that i go heavy and try building some muscle now which will help shed the final 10-15lbs i need to lose. Does this sound like a good split? I am thnkin of payin him to train me for like a month so i can get more knowledge about lifting heavy bc my old trainer didnt do anything for me the last couple months.

Way too many exercises! Focus on big lifts (bench or dumbell press, lat pulldown or rows, squat, deadlift, etc.) and work on upping weight!

we did do lat pull down and seated rows. Im assuming for the chest days we will be doing bench, either dumbell or barbell. Squats will be done most likely on quad/ham day and for deadlifts, well i dont know if i will be doing those bc i dont want to hurt myself, i know its a great compound lift but i dont know the form.
