New roads to travel, not alone.

Oooohhhh - poor tuckered out puppy! So adorable!

When I first started running this last summer I would run outside on the gravel road that goes past our farm. My 13 year old dog (who is deaf by the way) came with me the first few times when I was mostly walking. But the first time I ran the whole way we got back and she kept looking at me like I'd taken away her favorite chew toy and had punished her for something. The next time I went she gave me a look like I was freakishly insane and refused to leave the house! LOL!

That's ok. I'd hate to give my poor old dog a heart attack. She's not used to all that activity.

hey, who you calling sassy??? :toetap05: oh..yeah that must be moi.

oh and don't you forget im a northern chick!! i think i will wait until im good and stable with the bike and then ease into the clippy shoes. or at least wait until im with someone who can catch me. umm, yeah id rather not hit the ground. thanks for the tips on the sites!! your always such a great help!!

Moonbeamish, I recently put clipless pedals on my bike for the first and was really really frightened that I'd forget and fall over whenever I wanted to stop. I bought MTB shoes as Cabbie said, the road ones are just daft to walk in at all but MTBs feel like slightly stiffer trainers - I walked a mile up the biggest hill ever in them the other day and didn't get blisters or any pains. What I would recommend though is a company called "Crank Brothers" - they do a range of quite odd pedals - I bought the "candy" model for my bike - really REALLY easy to fit, they are the "egg beater" design which means they are very easy to clip into, and best of all, you literally twist your foot a tiny bit and you come unclipped but it doesn't seem to do this when you WANT to stay in when riding. I forgot I was clipped in when I came to stop on my ride, but it kind of unclipped me when I went to put my foot down anyway.

Makes a HUGE difference cycling - I wouldn't go back now. I love them! I sat on my bike against the wall at home and practised in and out a few imtes but no more than that. Cycling - it means that you can pull on the upstroke which works completely different muscles which is cool.

You could get one of those kiddie carts that you pull behind your bike for him to ride in! We used to go motorcycle riding back in our pre-children days and my dog went everywhere with us. Hubby had an old wooden nail keg attached on it's side on the back of his bike that we used for a back rest and to stow stuff in and she would lay in there quite often if it was a short trip. More often than not though she rode inside my zipped jacket.

I don't think you'll get away with sticking your baby in your jacket though! LOL!
