So you're only doing curls with dumbells? You're doing biceps, but are you also doing Triceps? As this will also help in gaining size with your biceps, as well as overall strength when working out other body parts as well (such as chest)
Here's some workouts right out of this months Muscle and Fitness:
Biceps (long head emphasis)
- Ez Bar Curl
- Incline Dumbell Curl
- Preacher Curl
- Hammer Curl
Triceps (long head emphasis)
- Seated overhead dumbell extension
- Overhead cable extension
- Dumbell Kickback
Triceps (lateral head emphasis)
- Close grip bench press
- Cable pressdown
- One-Arm reverse grip pressdown
- Overhead cable extension
Biceps (short head emphasis)
- Wide grip barbell curl
- EZ bar preacher curl
- Incline dumbell curl
- Reverse EZ Bar curl
I wouldn't worry much about how HEAVY you're going so far if just starting to workout, focus on proper form.
Hope this helps.
*EDIT* Just saw your picture, you look like you're doing fine as far as working out. You have some pretty good size, and good definition as well. Your arms dont seem to be small either. Good work..
Just piece some of those workouts together and find what works for you as far as arms.
Are you taking any supplements?
If you're not, i'd suggest :
- Multi-Vitamin (Animal Paks are good, or GNC Mega Men)
- Fish Oil Pills (GNC worked well for me.)
- Creatine (I prefer Controlled Labs - Green bulge)
- You may want a pre-workout supplement such as NO-Xplode, XPand, etc, if you want a boost in energy for the workout.
I found NO-Xplode helped me break through a plateau a while ago, but its effects wear off, as it's mostly caffeine rush.
