Hey all.

I just joined minutes ago, made my page in the newcomers section, and want to get started on losing weight. I haven't weighed myself in a looong time. I will go to the grocery store and check in a few days(no scale at home- fail!), but I know I weigh around 170lbs(hopefully not more since I last checked), and I'm about 5'5''. It's not terrible, I know, but it isn't a weight I'm comfortable with. If I can get under 160, that would be great. My goal is 15-20lbs.

Now getting to 155 obviously won't make me a twig or make me have that trendy thigh gap, and I know that, but I'm perfectly fine with having curves as long as I am still healthy and feel a bit better about myself. :)
Once I get there, I will work on toning up.

My biggest problem is procrastinating and eating a lot, mostly out of boredom, or from eating despite being full. I usually don't eat from waking up 5am(no breakfast...), to 3pm when I get home and eat beyond being full, then am too tired to move, sometimes I even take a 4 hour nap. I also will eat s**t because I am too hungry to care...
That is so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so stupid I KNOW.

Anyways, summer just started, and I don't need to get up like that anymore and have more time, so I plan to completely change that now. My plan is pretty much to not eat out of boredom, especially not to eat crap, and if I have to eat, to eat fruits and veggies.
That is another problem, because I do not get enough of those. A few days after thanksgiving I became a vegetarian, and have been since then. While that has obviously improved my intake of healthy stuff greatly, it also means I eat a lot more crap like refined flours in bread and pasta, because we nearly never have fruits and veggies in our house. They disappear quickly, and while my parents go to the store DAILY and get: whole fat milk, cream cheese, white bread, frozen fruits, store-made pies/cakes.... they very rarely get fruits or veggies unless I go with them, which requires me to beg for days. Anyways, it isn't my parent's fault that I'm f-a-t(*sob*), so I will change that this summer. :)
My plan is:

-Move more. I plan to swim a lot, which is possible in FL, and also to bike. I recently got a job at a local grocery store, which is actually pretty physically tiring in itself, and I bike there and back- about 30 minutes of moderately-fast speed. It is part time, however, and they like to give me long shifts instead of a bunch of short shifts, which is good, but it means that this biking thing is only about 2 times a week.

-Bike to a nearby grocer's market and buy healthy foods myself when we run out. :)

-Continue keeping and eating from my garden

-Stay busy. As in, don't sleep in all day. I plan to do this by working, and by volunteering so that at least half of the weekdays I'm waking up before 10am.

-Continue not eating meat(it actually isn't hard at all, I've had nearly no cravings, except when someone is eating the fragrant burger 1 foot away from me, and I have upkept it since November with no breaks)

-Drink water and not-sugar-packed juice, mostly severely limit soda intake

-Cook more, eat less crap, especially frozen/instant foods

-Try to count calories and servings, and keep them around 1200 a day or slightly more.

-Stay motivated.

I know I can do that, mostly lifestyle changes anyways. It is hard for me to go on a very specific diet, for example those diets that say to eat "1 cup skim milk, 1/2 cup strawberries, 1 whole weat piece of bread breakfast...... raisins in whole oat oatmeal snack.....", because I'm not in charge of my household's shopping, and I don't want to force anyone here to spend insane amounts of money because I want to diet. No one cooks specifically for me or buys me expensive tofurkey because I went veg, that's just not fair. I know those diets usually call for very simple ingredients that aren't exactly expensive-- I do NOT want diet pills or w/e-- but it will still require me to either force my family to go shopping specifically for me often, or for me to buy lots of the groceries which I can't afford. I work around 20hrs a week for $8 and I have money I owe I need to pay off.

Anyways, some things I can't do:
-I can't go to a gym. There are no within biking/walking distance, and I can't afford the membership.
-I can't get a trainer.
-I can't follow a extremely specific food diet, because of the paragraph above.

Some things I have done:
-Kept the same lifestyle and same food intake, maybe a bit less. Drank much more water and did soccer for about 3 months. THis included daily practice from 2pm-6pm of cardio and pretty intense activity. Running, sprinting, conditioning. CHanged absolutely nothing appearance or weight wise, very dissapointing.
-Lost around 5-10lbs everytime I visited my dad in Europe, which I will do for about a month this christmas. Much healthier lifestyle!

Anyways, thast was a very long post, and one full of rambling, I apologize. For anyone who actually read through it all, thanks, and please comment on what you think I should do to reach my goal of 15-20lbs lost this summer. :)
