New here....and encouraged.....

I have just started my weight loss journey & have looked online for a little guidance...i found this web site, & it is awesome! looking at everyone on here, and seeing where they began & where they are now....is so encouraging & motivating, which is great. I took some before pictures, not putting them up til I lose a little...and like people say, I actually didn't realize how big I had gotten until a picture that was taken this weekend...I looked at it, & was trying to reason with the way my head was tilted or that I was the closest to the camera so I looked the biggest....and truth is I was the biggest!! I still cannot believe how I let myself go...not anymore....I can't do this anymore....I want to be happy & feel great about myself again! So, I will keep posting as I go on....& post some pics after I lose weight! Thanks to everyone for some motivation!
 
Welcome! I'm relatively new here as well and I can honestly tell you that you have definitely come to the right place. I joined about a week ago and the motivation and support has helped me lose 8 lbs. Good luck on your journey!
 
thank you! i just started my diet 3 days ago, & am going to weigh myself next week & hope to see a couple pounds gone....i am at 225 lbs. right now i think....and hope to get to 170...which is pretty close to your goal i see...i want that ticker thing to say how much i weigh & where my goal is...but, i cant get it to do that?...anyways. i wish you luck too!!

It took me a couple minutes to figure out how to get it.. you have to change the "track" section from "weight change" to "weight"!
 
Thanks!! And if you dont mind my asking...what are you doing to drop the pounds? And has anything worked really well for you so far?
 
The first thing I did was get a free account with fitday.com.. I'm pretty much just counting calories and working out for at least an hour a day. I also take a multi-vitamin to ensure that I'm getting all the nutrients that my body needs, and of course, drinking lots of water! If you want to know exactly what I'm doing down to every detail, you can check out my diary here. Trust me, if I can do it, so can you!

Hey, welcome! I, like you, didn't realize how bad I had gotten. Most of the weight I just lost was gained during my last pregnancy (she was a 10.5 pound baby that just turned 2)... however, I didn't really realize how bad I was until 3 months ago. I was looking for a picture and found one of me taken a couple months after I had the baby. I bawled when I saw that picture for the first time. I knew I was big, but wow.. the picture is on my thread here somewhere, but yeah. I am down 108 pounds so far, it's taken a year, but I am still at it. You can do it too! Can't wait to see your before/during pics. :)
 
well, today for the first time i am feeling un-motivated....it'll be a week tomorrow of starting my diet-& i havent lost a pound....i know i shouldn't probably get upset over that, but i am. i have been doing so well...so, i just figured i would lose a pound or 2....but, anyways. i guess i do really need to workout at least a half hour in the morning or something to jump start this weight loss...any suggestions for home workout videos?? if anyone does that feel free to post!!

Try not to get discouraged. Some people don't lose weight the first week. My mom didn't start losing until the 3rd week. I'm going to recommend the Biggest Loser DVDs. The cardio max will get your heart pumping and the power sculpt will get you started with strength training. I usually do one or both each day. They really get you sweating. You can also youtube some pilates videos. They work really well! Good luck and if you ever need to chat, feel free to PM me!
 
thank you very much....i will for sure watch some of the pilates videos tonight, & head to walmart tomorrow to see if they have the biggest loser dvds. that sounds great! i try not to get discouraged...but now i feel i should be eating even less...and i dont want to be totally deprived...but, i will keep going & just give it more time....thanks.
