New at training... what's the best?

I'm 20 years old, 5 foot 7 and about 145 pounds... sucks but yeah. Anyway I don't want to be a body builder and really huge or anything I just want to have a six pack, nice chest and cut arms.

I've been doing these things for ... about a month or so:

one night i will do like:
- lie down on back with basketball between feet and lift up legs. 3 reps of 10.
- 3 sets of 50 sit ups.
- and then lie on side and lift up to work side of abs. 3 reps of 10.

and then i hear that you're supposed to not work the same muscles every day so i will go a day or two without working abs and will do pushups the other nights and curls with a curl bar and dumbells.

i also run whenever i can which is really only maybe twice a week.. but i try as often as possible.

i have a curlbar and two dumbells to work with.

so right now i'm noticing some definition and I have a four pack of abs but i can't get the bottom ones to show even when i flex. my chest isn't really changing at all.

can anyone help me out with how to work the abs better and the chest and overall what i can do to improve my work outs. I don't want to be doing it if i am not doing the best things that i could. any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can develop your chest with push-ups. Perhaps you aren't trying hard enough, or you haven't given yourself enough time.

Post your entire weekly routine.

Don't forget to work your lower and upper back and shoulders. You can do deadlifts, pull-ups (need a chinning bar), and head-stand push-ups.

Your dumbells can be used for bentover dumbbell rows, shrugs, shoulders presses, chest flyes, tricep work (skull crushers).

Try throwing in some chair dips into your chest day.

Get creative. You have alot more available than you think... Speaking of which, post how much weights and dumbbells (sizes) that you own.

You prolly need to get your diet under control. Eliminate all trans fats. Stop drinking soda and replace it with water (lots of water). Eat 5-8 smaller more healthy meals throughout the day.

Tell us what your goals are (beyond: "six pack, nice chest and cut arms"). Gain weight? Burn fat? Bigger upper arms (triceps will help with this more than biceps)? Thinner waist? All-around healthier body? etc...

Above all else, once you have established your goals and come up with a sound routine. Stick with it through thick and thin!

i want to lose weight in the belly. i'm developing some abs but the bottom of the adomen still sticks out some. what's the best to get rid of that? i want just an all around healthier body but i'd like my waist to be just a lil bit skinnier i guess right now.

i think I eat pretty well. I hardly eat any junk food ever, and don't drink soda. I try to eat salads whenever I can which is about one every day or two.

what is your diet like just as a matter of interest as you can have the best 6 pack in the world but if body fat is covering it nobody is going to be able to see it. So between some low intensity cardio and a clean diet you should be able to see that six pack once you keep working at it
