Hi, all,
I've always been a heavy girl and not particularly happy with myself, but I finally got the right motivation to lose weight: My dad, who is 57, has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, and it would be totally curable except for the fact that his doctor can't perform the surgery he needs because he is too fat. The equipment can't get through his body mass, and if they put him on the operating table, his fat would suffocate him.
I looked at my dad, and I went, "I don't want that to be me!" I'd already had a few health problems -- high blood pressure, PCOS -- and this was the last straw.
I'm doing the Jenny Craig diet (if Kirstie can do it, so can I! haha), and training for my first Century Ride (100 miles on a bike if you don't know what that is) as well as various other types of exercise (to give my poor, sore butt a break from the bicycle seat every once in a while). I've been on this program for one month and have lost 10 pounds thus far. I'm looking to lose about 60 more.
Even though I have really supportive friends and family, I need all the help I can get for motivation, so here I am! Already, looking at some of the before-and-after pictures on here has been immensely helpful.
Affectionately yours,
~Katie
