New and in Need of Advice.

Hi guys. I have joined this forum in hopes thats I'll get into shape again. As of now, I am 15 years old, about 5 feet 8-9, and weigh 165 pounds. Ever since I quit playing basketball (personal reasons), I sort of let myself go. I gained some weight and got out of shape. It's almost a new year, and I want to start it off fresh, in hopes that I'll lose that stubborn belly fat and get toned again. Most of my fat is in my stomach and thighs. I look at myself and I cant believe I've let myself get to this. If someone would be helpful enough to give me some newcomer tips and point me to some solid places, I would be really grateful. Thanks. Below is a link to a pic of me now.

(PS: I enjoy running and biking if that helps any. Last year I could bench about 150 something...)

Bump. A reply would be nice.

weight loss

The basic answer is that you need to expend more calories than you take in. However you do it is up to you - find something you like or join a buddy group. I help out with an accountability program in my advice. Spot reduction is a bit of a myth- go for overall loss and tone your specifically heavy areas. Good luck!

Tips? Easy. Make sure you read all of the stickies in the forum because there's a wealth of information.

join another sport that involves cardio ... you have rugby, soccer, football ... my personal favorite right now (partly cuz i'm old), is ultimate frisbee.

You need to do more exercises and expend more calories than you take in. Here is the successful tip from my friends met on horsematch.com. She always invite friends to ride a horse, usually it will take her three hours a day. After two month, she lost 8 ponds. You may have a try. She not only lost the weight, but also enjoy the life. Thanks for your reading .
