Need to lose 15 pounds 28 days (30 days really)

There is no particular exercise that will make you lose fat in certain areas...

for example, crunches will not help you lose belly fat, and chest presses will not help you lose fat on your man boobs. You need to get on a healthy eating plan and do exercise, then you'll see OVERALL results.

Your goal leaves you 4lb loss per week, thats not exactly a healthy target. I'd aim more towards 1-2 lbs per week. Having a deadline for weightloss is a bad idea, instead try and aim for something more realistic, maybe 8 lbs in a month.

ur best bet, is to build a time machine

ur not going to loose ur man boobs in a month. u can lose 15 lbs but it will be water weight.

if u want to lose real weight read around on here, and weight train

I have a more optimistic perspective. Keep your current food intake, but increase your exercise level by 1000 calories a day. This should take less than 2 hours a day on the treadmill or elliptical. This way you will lose about 10 pounds of pure fat in a month plus the associated water. 15 pounds are very doable. If you don't have time for 2 hours of exercise, then cut your calories by 500 and exercise for the other 500 (an hour).

Good luck.

Oh really.

That's great advice.

Starve yourself and exercise more.

And might I ask you how you are positive that he'll lose nothing but 'pure fat?'

I think it's great that you promote such a heavy emphasis on weight opposed to health, functionality, physique, etc.

I really do.

The man asked if losing that amount of weight is possible, and I think it is. I said part of it will be pure fat, not the whole thing. But you're right, I should not encourage unhealthy behavior, and for that I apologize.

I guess a more reasonable approach would be creating a small calorie deficit through exercise. 1000 calories is huge. 2 months would be a more responsible goal (2 pounds a week).

hello, just to tag on the thread,if i lose about 700 calories a day on the treadmill and i do it everyday is it possible to lose two pound a week?i do not have the habit of taking breakfast and normally i only take my lunch and dinner,so if i keep my current habit plus the losing 700 calories is my idea okay?(previously no exercise)

That question is impossible to answer.

Suppose you burn 700 calories per day via exercise.

Yet, you are eating 5000+ calories per day.

You'd gain weight.

I know you aren't eating that much... but I'm simply proving my point that you can't answer that question.

Even if we knew all your stats, we couldn't answer that question. There are 3500 calories in 1 lb of fat. But you don't lose ONLY fat when you diet. You lose water, glycogen, muscle, connective tissue, etc. They are not all created equal, calorically speaking.

I am a black man hovering around 240. I told myself I had a weight loss goal of 225 by my birthday. So far I have been on pace to do this but now its crunch time and I need help

1. What should I be eating to lose weight, I am not concerned with muscle
mass more concerned with just dropping the weight?

2. I have three areas that I want to work on the most...
a. My chest (man boobs)
b. My stomach
c. My thighs
Does anyone know any exercises that I could do for those three major target areas?

3. Is this really healthy. I am a young (21) so I should be able to push myself for this weight lost goal. What do you think?

What's your rush sweetie?! You've been this weight for a while probably so why must it all come off by your birthday? Set realistic goals such as exercising __ times per week and not eating X (McDonalds, cookies, whatever it is you ate to put on the weight), rather than an unrealistic timeframe that your body may not be willing to comply with (unfortunately it tends to have a mind of its own).

First goal is you want to take of fat, NOT muscle or water. And the second goal is that you want to keep it off, not do stupid things that will slow down your metabolism or fail to teach you important new healthy habits that will help keep the weight off PERMANENTLY. There is little point in losing all that weight if the second you go back to eating "normally" you gain it all back, right?

When you say you dont care about muscle tone, you should realize that muscle tone makes you look sexy and toned. Losing fat AND muscle (which you lose when you do unhealthy things like restricting calories too much) makes you look dumpy and emaciated rather than strong and healthy. Opt for the latter, even if it takes longer.

You get it?

okay, maybe i try to be more specific..i do not take breakfast except for a cup of low fat milk, during lunch i have rice with fried fish, vegetables and egg.i eat a piece of watermelon after the meal.During Dinner,i eat vegetables and chicken with rice.I cannot find out the calories involve as i am not sure of what are the specific fish type and things..but this is what i have been having in the past without exercise..Now about a month ago i started to do joggin about 3 times a week with the same meal stuff, recently i add in strength training without changing my meal frequency and quantity..will i slim down in the long run??

First thanks for all the responses, supportive, unsupportive and inbetween. Since i wrote this post I am down to 235. I guess thats water weight but what ever I just wanted to lose the weight... lol

1. I realize that I won't lose my manboobs over night but I still wanted to know good exercises that might help.. lol

2. I am in a rush a bit but I have had this goal for a while actually. I was at 260 in July and I told myself I wanted to be 225 by my birthday. Now its just crunch time. I have always been a results oriented punctual person.

3. I have cut back. I cut back on carbs noy cut OUT just back and I have stayed aways from the devil McDonalds. At the same time I have increased my fruits and veggie and protein filled foods like chicken, turkey bacon and eggs. I guess I am getting good calories.

I am still 10 pound off my goal and I realize that I could gain that weight back as quick as I lost it but any one have any good suggestions to help me get closer to my goal?

Yea.... the good suggestions were already given.

Stop focusing so much on your weight.

And don't rush things.

Apart from the excellent suggestions already posted, I'd say the short and sweet answer would be: Get a personal trainer who will help you maintain focus. Nothing like a professional human hand to achive your goals.

Except for the statistically proven fact that 9/10 trainers are boobs.

:p

Actually i did not skip breakfast intentionaly, previously always rushing to work so dun really have time to eat..after some time i got use to not eating breakfast...but i eat my lunch and dinner regularly..so is it possible for me to lose weight if i keep up my exercise?

I would guess the answer is "no". 700 cals x 7 days = 4900 calorie deficit, while a 2 pound loss requires a calorie deficit of 7000 (3500 x 2). So if everything goes right (meaning you have not slowed your metabolism with your limited eating), you still wouldn't take off 2 pounds.

Are you sure you're burning 700 cals on the treadmill? How long are you on there and what's your exertion level? Note that the numbers on the machine are usually way off.

What is your weight? I'm surprised you have a weight problem considering you barely eat. You must either not be overweight or have really slowed down your metabolism.
