need some help with my bench

im gonna start a diary soon .. but anyways .. im having a problem with
my bench press .. i normally do 5x5 sets .. i have only been working out for like 2 months .. havent really been benching that long .. but anyways ..
i seem to be stuck at 155 for 5 .. i normally go like this

135x5
140x5
145x5
150x5
155x3 ( i always fail here)

my friend told me to do sets of 6 - 5 - 4 - 3 - 2 and if i get thru it .. then start 5 pounds higher ..

so i basically would have finished 155 x 2 ..

so next i would do

140x6
145x5
150x4
155x3
160x2

is that a good way to do it or should i not switch from the 5x5 im doing ??

on mondays when i do upper body .. my chest work is like bench 5x5 .. dips 4x max .. incline bench 5x5 .. i did flys last week but didnt like them much ..
im still messing around with a solid routine .. i was either thining 5x5 bill starr routine or the beginner one which is 3x5

what happens if you come in and warm up with a couple light sets, and then throw 155 on there?

i bet you could do it. I'm not a fan of pyramiding, because by the time you get to your heaviest set, you're exhausted from 4 previous sets. I bet if you tried to start and stay at 155, the reps would go 5, 5, 4, 3, 3

dunno .. i wanna be able to finish 5 sets of 5 .. before when i started and i tried 150 i barely got it up .. now i think my max is in the 170s prolly .. i lift alone .. so trying 1rm isnt gonna happen ..

i dunno if i can do 155 for 5-5-4-3-3

if i do it like that .. i just stay at 155 until i finish 5-5-5-5-5 ?

Bingo.

While it's not pyramiding, something that might interest you is wave-loading.

Typically if your bench is stalling, first place you should look is your rowing. How much can you bent-over row? If it's not near your bench, you're imbalanced; bring up your rowing. Otherwise, switch your set/rep, and eventually change exercises now and then (BB vs DB, grip position, decline/flat/incline, etc).

hmm well bent over rowing with double underhand i dunno my 1rm ..but doing 5 at like 125 isnt bad .. wide grip lat pulldown around like ummm 130s but that is for 5x5
