Need advice!

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but anyway.

I'm a slim/skinny built guy. I joined up to the local Gym about a month ago and really just want advice on how I can build up a bit as I'm sick of being so slim! I know that just doing weight's and working out isn't going to be enough to build myself up a bit, but I don't know much at all about all these protein shakes and stuff. What type of supplements do you guy's suggest are the best for pretty much a beginnier who is wanting to put on a bit of weight and build upper body muscle?

Thanks for any help! :)

Cytogainer, almonds, pumpkin seeds, milk, beef

I think until you have multi vitamin, fish oil, and then protein that you don't need to be supplementing with anything. But supplements are only there after real food.

As a beginner you need NO supplements, except possibly whey protein. You first need to see what you can accomplish naturally and what you can get through your diet. You need to be doing a routine with big compound lifts; bench, squats, deads, presses, pull-ups and dips. Then you need a 2:1 carb: protein shake immediately after working out. Next you need to know how to eat. Open an account at Fitday.com, its free, and track your intake. Shoot for a 40:30:30, carb: protein: fat ratio. And aim for 500 caloires over what your body needs to maintain. You must have a surplus of calories in order to build muscle. Also check out the forums over at Mens Helath .com. At the top of the fitness forum there are some stickies and one is all about starting out and making gains. It has some great info.
