Nadoya's Weight Loss & Exercise Diary

Hi guys. My name's Nadia, I'm 24, and as of today, I was 115.3 kg. Phew. That was the scariest thing I've ever had to admit. Let me give you a little background information - I don't look like I weigh as much as I do. I'm a UK size 16, and I guess because I"m fairly tall (174cm), the weight doesn't look as bad as it is. But I'm not kidding myself, it's bad. So I decided before Christmas to shift the weight for good. And keeping this diary is going to be one of my efforts. I've already lost 6kg, and I've got another 24 to go.

I've started going to the gym a lot more..... ah, screw it, I'm just going to start the daily updates now.

Breakfast - bowl of Bran Flakes with semi-skimmed milk.
Mid morning - 2 apples
Lunch - grilled trout with a handful of wholegrain couscous
Dinner - mixed salad

Exercise - 50 minutes in the gym - cardio and weight training. (I do a program given to me by my personal trainer).

So, day 2. Weight this morning - 114.2 - I seem to have lost a kilo since yesterday. hmm.

I've decided that even though I don't seem to have lost any kgs in the last 3 weeks, I've definitely lost inches - my clothes are all baggier. It can't be a figment of my imagination.

But I'm going to step up going to the gym - 5 times a week instead of 3 - this started this morning with my weekly session with my personal trainer (asha - god bless her) - we've been working together for about 6 weeks now, and today she came up with a new workout plan. Lots and lots and lots of lunges and squats. Totally killer. We'll see how it pans out. But the new plan is to go before work every day - yes, that means a 6:30am start in the gym. It's not as bad as it sounds.

I also downloaded this application thing to my iPhone which is like a diary for exercise and food - tres tres tres handy. Recommend highly.

I panicked a bit last night, and called my hypnotherapist to try and get an earlier session. She didn't have one, and I calmed down a bit. Just need to remember - this is for the long term. It won't all shoot off in the first six weeks..... better think about the first six months.

Hi Nadia,

I'm in a similar situation to you, i haven't weighed myself recently but i'm between 115-200kgs, but not starting my 'regime' till March 1st. Definitely going for the long term this time because i've hit my target weight(74 kilos), through semi-starvation diets, about 4 times in last 5 years and obviously not worked so quick fix is not the answer!!

You've actually just inspired me to get in touch with my old personal trainer, at least he makes me to do all the <beneficial> things that i would never do if it was left up to me, like squats, lunges, etc. I think i'll book a session/week at least, also more pressure to keep it all up when you're accountable to someone. You should get your PT to do some boxing training with you in a session, it's absolutely knackering, but fun, even 10 minutes really helps.

For me i usually go a bit obsessive about my stats and so weigh and measure every day, but find that going for a monthly shop to the same store is how you really guage your progress, because you can see that your size has reduced and treat yourself to some new clothes in a smaller size!

Well good luck with your plan, i'll keep an eye out for this thread.

oh forgot to say, i went to see a hypnotherapist for i think 5 sessions about 2 and half years ago, was very expensive and although i enjoyed the sessions, it certainly didn't help with my attitude to eating- which was my sole purpouse. to be fair i've never self-hypnotised which i guess would be like meditating, i can see some pro's for doing that. What's your experience of it all?
