~* My Tutti Frutti Progress Thread *~

Every pound counts! You lose a pound or two here or there and it'll soon add up to 10, 15, 20, etc! Just take it one pound at a time and enjoy losing every one of them!

Hi everyone, Thanks for the messages. :) Trust me Risty, I enjoy every 10th of a lb I see go!

I wanted to write up my menu for yesterday, as I didn't get a chance to be online last night.

I went on a girl's night out, but was actually very good with my diet, having only one drink (with diet lemonade) at a friend's house then sticking to a J20 (juice drink) and bottled water in the clubs. So I was quite pleased with that :) although I did get the expected stick from the others about not really drinking.

So anyway...

Yesterday's Menu:

BREAKFAST: Small bowl of Special K cereal, with skimmed milk and 1 chopped banana

LUNCH: Soup and crusty bread... (bit naughty! Total of 570-something cals and almost 3g fat)

DINNER: Small plate of pasta bake with peppers, mushrooms, sweetcorn, 3 slices of ham (32cals, 0.8g fat) and salad

SNACKS: 1x Special K bar (84 cals, 1.5g fat) and a small bowl of warmed up potatoes and swede

DRINKS: Low-sugar squash, one Archers and diet lemonade, 1 bottle J20 (132 calories) and water.

Will try to stop in on people's diaries today -this is proving a fairly hectic few days... too much to do, and too little time...! x

Hello there,
I think what you have lost so far, may it be 1 oz to however more is worth mentioning. Every move downward counts. Celebrate every oz. Thats what I do, because that means I am closer to meeting my goal and I am closer to being a much happier person.

Every ten pounds I plan to buy a new shirt... I know it sounds odd, but instead of rewarding myself with ice cream, I cant take in chocolate, but there is always vanilla, but still I am going to reward myself with clothing. I just threw away a bunch of clothes, dating back to my teens ...and I am adjusting to my thirities (year, not size! lmao) and to a new and triumphant me...

dont discount two pounds. I know you havent moved that far... but you really have ... youve taken big steps, every step counts ... congrats for the loss!

keep trecking
always
natalie jo :cheers2:

btw .. Your diary of journal entries of your food, at least the last one, shows control over what you eat ... congrats ..it can be very hard to make lifestyle changes ...

so congrats to that too ..
I like the special k protein cereal... there are so many different kinds. It reminds me of raisin bran, but it has a ton of protein in it, which helps my diabeties. u know

congrats and I hope to hear from you again!

laterz

LUNCH: Bean and lentil soup (222cals)

SNACKS: 1x Special K bar (84 cals, 1.5g fat), 1 pear, and 1 small bowl strawberries with sweetener

DRINKS: Low-sugar squash

Hey tutti,
nice diary, I like how you are facing this, calm and sort of one day at a time. Also I think the smaller plate idea is great, it also works with bowls (a smaller bowl of pasta for instance) and you could try to have your veg with virgin olive oil, salt and a bit of lemon, it tastes great and would be healthier than gravy! I know your gravy is not high in calories but olive oil is full of good fats.
Another "trick" is to eat as much as you can with chopsticks. I just love chopsticks and tend to eat a lot of my food with them just because I find them nicer than forks (I guess it is also because it took me a while to learn how to be really efficient with them and now I want to use this skill). Eating with chopsticks slows you down and sine your brain needs some time to be updated by your stomach to feel full, you often eat less as you notice you are full before you finished your plate.
Plus I find that when my hand cramps up I usually do not feel like eating anymore ;)!

Have a wonderful sunday, Camy

I had bean soup for lunch too! Speaking of food though, you should add a little lean protein at dinner with your veggies like chicken breast or fish!

Camy and Risty, thanks for dropping in.

Camy, eating with chopsticks would definately cut down my intake, nothing would ever make it as far as my mouth! :smilielol5: Eating slowly is a good way to go though, and I do try not to rush through meals now so I can feel myself getting full up.

Risty, I am a fussy eater in a lot of respects and not a fan of meat or fish... my diet is more-or-less vegetarian, and the meat I do eat usually is sausages, tuna which I like made up with mayo... prawns with seafood sauce... and fishcakes which are covered in breadcrumbs lol. So most of the meat I'd normally have is out-of-bounds while I try to lose weight!

Does anybody know if pork chops are ok to eat, if the fat is cut off? As that's something I wouldn't mind eating. I really am fussy with meat!

Anyhow, I weighed myself this morning and saw 191.0 :hurray: that's 1.4 down since Weds and a total loss of 5lbs so far. Happy with that!! Hoping to see 189 by next Sunday and get out the 190's. :D xx

Today's Menu:

BREAKFAST: 1x Special K bar (83 cals, 1.5g fat)(Breakfast on the go!)

LUNCH: 1 plate of Pizza hut pasta/salad bar... a mixture of salad and cold pasta with a few little potatoes. I had some naughty thousand Island sauce on the side but otherwise I think I stuck to quite good foods. (No idea how many calories were in this but I'm guessing it wouldn't be more than 500!?)

DINNER: Small plate of veggies with gravy. (Yes I know, I have this a lot, but it's healthy and tasty!)

SNACKS: No snacks today!:Angel_anim:

DRINKS: Diet Pepsi (my Pizza Hut treat!) and sugar-free squash

Lean pork without the fat isn't to bad but if your mostly vegetarian you need to include more vegetable protein like brown rice, lentils (i see included already), kidney beans, soy, tofu, nuts and seeds.

Thanks Trusylver, I'm not too clued on the whole nutrients side of dieting! I do eat kidney beans, I love them, but I dont really get many veggi proteins in, I know... as I say, normally I eat more meat than this but none of it lends itself to weightloss. I do like the vegi-bean burgers etc but they all come in breadcrumbs or are very high in cals/fat it seems to me! I know I should make more of an effort. Maybe I'll get some chicken and fish in and get them into the diet... I wont enjoy them, but I guess they will be filling and hey, no pain no gain right?

Awesome on the weightloss tutti! 5 pounds is wonderful!
Camy
Thanks Camy :) I'm happy with it... babysteps! x

Another great way of getting protein is by eating quinoa! It's a type of grain thingy and it looks kinda like couscous and it's a great source of protein! I have this recipe that I love for it! Basically it's the quinoa and you chop up celery, red pepper and green onion (I use it if I have it) and then the dressing is peanut butter, soy sauce, rice vinegar, lime juice and a little cayenne pepper to add a little spice. It's so good! If that sounds interesting to you I can post the actual recipe.

hey Tutti

I'm also not a big meat eater. I don't eat red meat and have chicken about once a week and fish about every 2nd week. Now on the Cohens I'm forced to eat meat everyday. I'm feeling like its enough now - but I stick it out cause I'm thinking of the end result.

As you I take it 5kg(11 pounds) at a time, otherwise 25kg seems soooo overwhelming!

But you are really doing great! Keep it up and you'll reap the benefits!!

Happy losing!

Hey lady :D I'm back from my weekend away and thought I'd check in. Looks like you're being healthy (wish the same could be said for me ;) ). Hope you're well!

Congrats on the weight loss lady!!!!! I've been eating a mainly vegetarian lifestyle lately, and I love it!! You feel so much better, but definitely is much easier if you don't actually like the taste of meats and fish! I love them!! haha!

...I love kidney beans, and I'm eating lentils and brown rice all week!! haha! ;)!

One of the the things that slows me down when eating is to remember to chew each piece of food at least 20 times. I saw this on an infomercial a few years ago and in the beginning, it drove me nuts. Eating took FOREVER. But the point of the process is not only to get you to slow down on eating but to also realize what food actually tastes like. I have to admit, if you chew a potato chip 20 times and start to feel the residue of all the oils and fats, it tastes like crap. I actually learned that there were a bunch of foods I like for the instant satisfaction but when put to the test, they failed. You may want to give it a try.

I am also not a big meat eater. I try to eat fish at least twic a week and will eat some meat in pasta sauce for instance, or have a little bit of ham here and there... I like the taste of it by the way, I just feel that eating meat by myself is sad. Meat needs to be shared. So I eat it when I am home where my mom makes meat or poultry literally every day!

Have a great day, Camy

I'm not the biggest meat eater either. Mostly red meat is what I don't care for. Sure I like it in pasta sauces or hamburgers (just because there are other things that you eat along with it at the same time which masks the meat flavor), so steak is definitely not my fav! Though if done right one the BBQ with a good sauce (and I trim all the fatty gross bits) then that's ok once in a while.

So I'm more of a chicken person too. I need to add more fish to my diet, I eat it every so often, but I should make it at least once a week, maybe twice.

I hate meat!

Chicken is okay but I'd rather have something else if given a choice. And I don't like red meats very much either. Very fussy. I like those posh sausages with the different herbs and bits and pieces in them though!

And I don't eat fish. Woeee is me :p

Hi All :seeya:

Risty - About half those ingredients I dislike so I dont think that recipe is for me, but I appreciate the thought, thanks :)

Mands - I could never stick out Atkins or any diet that was based around meat!! I'm going to try to get more lean fish and chicken in though from now on :) it will benefit me in the long run I guess.

Sunflower - Hope you enjoyed your weekend! Everyone can allow themselves a treat on trips... just work hard once you're back in line. :)

Alta - Thanks :) I'm pleased with my progress so far, it's not fast but it's steady and I think I can keep this lifestyle up. I like the kidney beans and lentils too.

Veronica - Lol I'm afraid I'm a bit too much of :piggy: to chew everything 20 times! :smilielol5: I'm trying to take my time over food though. I do anyway really as I like to savour it.

Camy - eating meat alone is not sad!! I will make myself anything I fancy, alone or not. :D

Well I haven't really been online in a couple days as I just started a new job... sort of... and kissed goodbye to spare time!! It's fairly stressful but going ok so far. My new schedule sees me walking briskly for 50 minutes a day, so I guess that can only be good news for my waistline.

Sooo, I have two day's worth of food to log... I am weighing myself in the morning. :)
