My Recovery from Obesity

Even though I lost just shy of 30 in the first month, my hope is to lose 20 pounds this month, so I've set that as my goal in my signature line. I think it's a fair number to target and should be achievable. My plan has been to increase my physical activity by about 50% this month, so we'll see how that goes.

So, with today's loss, only 19.4 to go! :)

Congrats on your loss so far Don, really impressive stuff.

19.4lbs?

Eeeeeassssyyyy ;)

Syn.

Wow Don, you really know how to binge hey:rotflmao:

But at least you got that outta your system and you can continue the healthy eating.

You gotta believe to achieve ;) :ack2:

Ha, far from an expert my man, but always happy to help where I can :D

Syn.

Syn, you're more of an expert than me. You have accomplished a very challenging feat, so I trust your instincts. Thanks again.

Lol. I know, it may not be a cataclysmic 9.0 earthquake, but it's still a tremor!

OK, I'm in a bit of a funk... up 2 lbs yesterday, but back down 0.5 lbs today. Just wanted a bit more movement on the scale after the Super Bowl Binge-athon recovery day, but it is what it is. I know I'm eating well. I just need to hold fast and wait this out. I weigh today what I did 4 days ago, so I'd like to start progressing again.

Today, eat right right, drink water like it's running out, and hit the cycle.

My weight is up today and you and I have the same game plan for today. I've got my trusty gallon jug of water, I'll be good on calories, and the cycle awaits me at home. Good luck to us both on the scales tomorrow!

Thanks Quercus and Justina for checking in. I appreciate your help and support!

OK, weigh-in today was good... down 0.6 lbs. That's good because I felt yesterday that I was doing things right, so I needed a little positive reinforcement.

I'm really regretting the Super Bowl fiasco... still working off that gain.

Did my HIIT bike exercise regimen again yesterday. I tried increasing the overall workout by 10 minutes and doubling the "High intensity" part of the workout from 30 seconds to 60 seconds. Holy crap that was a lot harder! But I did it and felt good and a little sore afterwards. I'll do that again, because I feel like I accomplished something.

I'm planning to integrate more walking into my routine very soon.

Today's plan, eat well (I ate NOTHING after 6pm yesterday!), drink loads of water, and do either some weights or the bike again. Good luck all, and have a good day.

I was calling walking lame the other day in my diary...it was such a lame thing to call walking lame.
Walking is awesome!! It is so easy & easy on the joints etc too - and almost effortless compared to all the other types of sports. & yeah it helps great deal - so go you!! hope you mange to integrate more walking!!

No worries, Justina! It probably is lame for most people. But at my weight, it's a chore and good for me. Imagine taking walks with another adult man on your back. That's what I carry around every day.

Thankfully, I'm a formerly athletic guy (football, racquetball, etc.) so I have a frame big enough to carry extra weight... but not this much. :) Believe it or not, for many years in my adult life I weighed between 190-240 pounds. Only in the last 10 years did my weight balloon.

I CRAVE what it will feel like to climb stairs without the equivalent of TWENTY 10-lb Sacks of Sugar hanging on me. CRAVE.

Walking, crawling or slithering, I'll get there.

That's the attitude Don! Walking will turn from a chore to a delight for you over time. I have to do a lot of walking through the woods for work so it isn't much of a chore for me, but I still use walking as exercise and to relieve stress or redirect myself from less healthy activities. One day you'll find yourself on a walk and think dang I remember when this was hard.

I picked up 2 50 lb dumbells and walked with them for a bit and it really sucked. Then I thought to myself that walking will be that much easier when I've reached my goal weight.

Keep those CRAVINGS and you'll get where you are going.

Here's your goal weight theme song. If you don't know the song you'll get it at 1:33. Don't think I'm poking fun because I believe you can get there.

Same here. Was about 180 at 24 years old, and crested in the 370s a month before my 41st birthday. It happens.

Hiking up mountains now (beat my personal best time today) just a little over 7 months later. So I guess that happens too.

MrVee,

It's amazing how it get's away from you, isn't it??

I was single, living in Hawaii, and weighing in the 220-230 lb range at the age of 30.
Got married, had kids, moved to the mainland, and got a sedentary job... oh, and discovered fast food... voila! The weight just climbed and climbed. Now, I want back the health I once had... or something approximating it.

Quercus,

I love that song... always have. I've actually had it in my head while working the exercise bike!

"Half the man"... that has a LOT of meaning to me. I seek to attain that physically. At the same time, sometimes I am "half the man I used to be" due the weight I've gained. I can't be who I need/want to be carrying this weight.

I have a lot to do. I also have a lot at stake.

Great stuff on the walking. I know what you mean by carrying an extra person on your back. Since my 8kg loss I have no more back aches as before I used to cringe of back ache and popping pain killers. So walk to a thinner you!!

Mands, I know what you mean. A month ago, i was getting a backache just standing/walking for longer than an hour. ONE MONTH! today I'm much better than that.

OK, weigh-in today was good. Down 1.0 pounds. Surprisingly, it follows a day where I ate differently than I had been eating. Two bigger meals (rather than 3 medium) and a slight bump in calories (up about 3-400 to about 2000). I did my HIIT bike-- felt like I was gonna die, but did it. Drank pretty well.

That brings me even with the pre Super Bowl festivities. Yea!

Today I think I'll skip HIIT Bike and try something else, to vary the workouts. Drink lots of water and eat like yesterday: Big breakfast, light snacks, early Dinner, then DONE by 7pm.

I m liking the way you do this whole weight loss thing! Varying exercises is good. It makes another part of your body work - plus it's more interesting for you too!
Early dinner, not eating after 7pm - oh just like me :D
well done for getting down to pre SB numbers on the scale!

Varying the workouts is a good idea. Helps keep you interested and wanting to accomplish different things with different workouts.

Keep up the excellent work. 399 should be here in no time.

My food regime is exactly like yours in terms of big breakie, light lunch & dinner. My cut off time is 8pm. Varying workouts I think is so key to keep motivated and not get bored.

You are gonna reach your goal in no time! Keep it up!
