Gollie, all those calories in fat in those foods and you're right "who eats just one?" When I did my little experiment eating like I used to, I would have never thought I was eating so many calories if I hadn't have added them up and they do add up quickly if you don't watch out.
arhh arhh arhh... LOLFood:
Breakfast- 1 peach, 1 Kashi trail mix granola bar
Lunch- Subway 6" turkey on wheat, w/provolone & green chile (then toasted), then I added lettuce, tomato, olives, green bell pepper & guacomole (no mustard, mayo, etc... don't need it when I add the guacomole! Yummy!)
Dinner- OH MY GOODNESS!!! I had been craving chicken curry after reading crazygirls diary so I decided to try my own healthy creation. Before when I made curry sauce it was kinda like a gravy with a flour, milk & butter base. But I did some reading and found that most currys are made with pureed onions & tomatoes, so I came home and took it from there. Here is the recipe I created. It was so amazing! AND HEALTHY!!!
1 onion
1 can "hot" rotel (diced tomatoes w/habaneros)
3 cloves garlic
fresh basil
curry powder
cumin
cayenne pepper
corriander
salt
cinnamon
brown sugar
olive oil
I sauteed the onion, rotel, garlic & basil in olive oil until the onions were soft. I added the curry powder, cumin, cayenne pepper, corriander & salt as I was sauteeing. I just kept adding different spices until I liked the taste. I added TONS of curry. (I also added water as I was sauteeing to keep the mixture from getting too thick.) Then after the onions were soft I pureed the mixture in the blender until it was smooth, and then added it back to the pan over very low heat. I added some cinnamon and just a tiny bit (probably 1/4 teaspoon) brown sugar and simmered over low heat.
I mixed some brown rice and steamed frozen peas, put some grilled chicken on top of this and poured the sauce over it. Oh my goodness! I cannot get over how amazing this was. Paul & I LOVE Indian restaurants and this was just so tasty. Much closer to the restaurant than the sauce I used to make & all vegetables with the exception of a little olive oil. REALLY GOOD! I highly recommend this recipe.
Snack/Dessert- single serving cup rice pudding, granola
Fitness:
I didn't go to the gym today. Even though it was not my rest day I decided to make it one since I had to work all day. This week I plan on trying to start running again, so tomorrow I am going to take Ace for his 1.5 mile
walk.
Fun:
I gave myself a skin "peel" facial and a mini pedicure with my home foot spa.
Feelings:
I am so excited to be trying new healthy versions of things that used to be so fattening. I know I have raved and raved about my silly dinner, but seriously... you must ALL try this recipe! YUMMY!!! It was a party in my mouth.arhh arhh arhh... LOL
I am too much of a chicken to try much of anything that is outside of my comfort zone.
I am even so anal retentive as to order the same thing when we do go out to eat. I am always afraid that I won't like what I get.![]()
or if it really was just a yucky
recipe. So now I am a bit shy about it.

I try something new as often as possible.
ask them before-hand to make "Your" size portions?
if they are making meat patties, aks them to make a half size one for you.....
..if you let them know you are watching your calorie intake, they can help, and Im sure they wont be put off by it.
Even with Ice cream or cake,........ask for half or less of a normal serving.
