Hi there...I'm new here and I'm really exited to start my weight loss journey! I am 25 yrs old, 5'6 and about 225 pounds :banghead: I plan on taking 'progress pictures' every 3 weeks!!! I am not on any particular diet because they NEVER work for me. I'm just eating healthy and going to exercise!!!!! I am also doing side crunches standing up because as you can tell I am very wide. I've been a yo-yo dieter FOREVER and I just want to stop! My main downfall is night time eating...night time hits and even if i had a healthy eating day (getting enough calories in) I still get VERY hungry :( So my goal is to really focus on stopping that habit. Here are my before (current pics)...

Welcome jamie!

I can see your pictures! Congrats on taking the first steps to a healthier lifestyle :hurray: This forum offers great support and encouragement! I hope you continue using it and provide us with more updates

I can relate to the feelings of wanting to eat at night - especially when you sit down to watch something on TV or a movie. It's very difficult, but have you tried chewing gum? That can really help with those late night cravings. I've been utilizing that method for years and it really does work! I chew the extra sugar free (sweet watermelon) gum since I have a huge sweet tooth

What kind of exercise regimen are you looking into? Treadmill? Elliptical?

Best of luck to you!

AIs that a Popsicle in your hand?! lol

I have the same problem. I work evenings, so I get home and get on the comp and I want to eat all night long. It's hard. I drink lots of water, it helps :).

Good luck!

Thank you Frogged :) i sure need ALL the support/encouragement I can get. And I am going to be posting here, on this particular post ever day or so. I will try the gum...maybe my mouth just needs constant movement LOL???? I am going to buy a treadmill in a couple of weeks...so i will start out walking, then jogging then running (but the jogging and running aren't anytime soon lol)

LOL sure is, and it was only 15 calories too  i don't understand why i eat SO much when it's close to the time I go to bed. It's like i have no control over my eating...stress is probably not helping! Sometimes I even go to bed without have an 'episode' and wake up hungry and go eat while i'm half asleep  I def have to get back on my water drinking, for awhile there I was doing great and it did help me feel full...thanks :)

Anytime

Treadmill is great! That's the primary method I've used to lose my weight

Make sure to start off slow and not overdo it. Maybe do about 20min a day at a 2-2.5mph speed for the first couple weeks, and then gradually increase the duration and speed as your body adjusts to the new regimen. Maybe set the incline up every week or so as well

Don't try to do too much at first, because you may hurt yourself or become discouraged. It's not a race and the only way to succeed is through patience and determination - trust me on that!

When I first started, it took me a few months, but I eventually began doing intervals. I'd walk for 5min, then run for 1 min. Then, go back to walking for another 5min, and run again for 1min. I'd do that for about 30min.

If you need any more info or advice, please don't hesitate to ask

Hey :seeya:

I am 230 lbs and was thinking that we are close enough in weight!! Maybe we could do this together??

We can give eachother support and motivation throughout!! Would love it if we could!! I need a diet buddy!!!

AHi
I'm 221lbs and 5ft 5 so very similar to u. You also have the same body shape as me. I uploaded some pics on here once from my mobile and they were jst little thumbnail pics like yours then I was looking at the forum on my actual laptop and one pic was like two full screens you had to scroll to see them lol so needless to say they were swiftly.deleted lol!
My first weigh in is tomorro so we'll see how my first wk went. I'm following weight watchers pro points diet.
I'm also joining a running club next week soooo nervous but excited too. Need to get my ass moving.
Good luck. I look forward to hearing how u get on :)

Weight Watchers helped me lose 70lbs 'back in the day' I use to be 165-170 and a size 7/8 (smallest i've ever been)...now i'm a 15/16 and I don't want to get ANY bigger so I am now REALLY focusing on becoming 170 again! When I was 16 I use to wear a size 22-24!!! That's when I got on Weight Watchers...so by the time I was 18 I was looking good lol. But I went through major depression a year and a half ago and ate my way to this weight =( Well my depression is gone (thanks to the medication I'm on) except for being depressed about my weight and the way I eat. I have the power to change, we all do, thank God! I like this quote 'time goes by regardless, so might as well use that time for change' =D good luck to you too Let us know how the WI went!

so i'm going to do an 'uncoventional' thing and just go ahead and eat lightly at night then not have breakfast until 11am the next day...since I can't STOP myself (at least for now) eating at night I might as well not let it destroy me, it will just make it work for me :)

I love your hair!! :D <333

I do the same thing as you, I'm just alwayyys hungry. I'm trying to stop myself from going and gorging right now. I just ate a cheese string -_- I want another one. I could probably eat the whole damn package.

I'm 240, working to get to 140, so I know how you feel.

thanks :) i'm growing the bangs out that is why they are so thick lol...but i liked the super blond side bangs with the lowlights!!!!!

Did you end up eating more string cheese???? since i have such a problem with eating at night im just letting myself eat (lightly) at night and then eating in moderation during the day...until i can nix it fully, i might as well not keep binging because i feel bad i'm night eating and let it destroy me, but just work around it and make it work for me. That is what life is about, finding ways of making thingswork for you =D good luck to you!!

Just a quick update...

since i was allowing myself to eat lightly late night (because i have a problem where i eat great during the day, get enough calories in and still am hungry at night) i really haven't been night eating much. I think when I don't restrict myself from certain actions/foods I have an easier time stopping because i know that I can do it some other time. Just like when I eat. I eat in moderation, but I eat what I want. However, since no food is 'off limits' I usually end up not even getting the thing I want because I know...if I do in fact want it, I can have it and it makes it much easier saying 'no' at the time :) I'm just finding things that work for me and I keep at it. Also, been working out...mainly crunches and arms. I am getting a treadmill from my friends boyfriend for 100$ soon, so I am exited for that. When I have a treadmill I'm always on it =D

So that's my update...will post pics in 2 weeks :)

AAwesome! I want a treadmill haha.

The other day I had a can of coke. I wanted one, I had it, so I took it from the fridge.

I only ended up drinking not even half the can. Turns out I don't like it as much as I used to. It's the same thing with all the bad food I used to eat. I could eat it, yet, I find the healthy options not only more filling, but better on my system.

It's funny how these things work.
