Hi :) I am in my early 30's and want to get back to the gym to tone up and lose around 10 lbs. I found this site so that I can log my progress and maybe get some insight on what I should be doing, and eating. I am going to go to the gym for the first time in months tomorrow morning when my kids go to school. I want to keep posting everyday so i can reflect back on what i did what worked, what didnt work, what my eating habits tend to be, and to get some support to keep going. I am a server so i do get exercise while I am working but it isnt enough. So I am going to take a peek around the site and see what has worked for others and some direction.
 
Thanks guys :) Glad you joined Anastasia :) Well I went to the gym for the first time in a long time this morning. It felt great. I weighed myself and found out I am 126lbs. I like to be around the 116-118 mark. I am quite short (5'4) so it is not unreasonable. I at really well yesterday. A protien shake for breakfast, a tuna salad for lunch, an activia yogurt for snack, then chicken salad for dinner (also had salad and a couple croutons for snack before bed) I really love my salads. I had a protien shake this morning. Went to the gym. I didnt want to over do it my first day so I did half an hour of cardio (stairmaster) Then legs and stomach. I am going to go again tomorrow. I am feeling great today :)
 
Ok..the butt muscles hurt today, but I still went to the gym this morning. Wow, i love the feeling when you are done a workout. I did 15 mins on the eliptical, stomach and arms, then 20mins on the stairmaster. I had a protien shake before I went but when I got home I was litterally starving. So I had a 100 cal granola bar before the shower, then 2 poached egss and 2 pieces of whole wheat toast. While I was waiting however I had a tsp of peanut butter. That is my biggest downfall....peanut butter. I LOVE it. I know not to over indulge in it though. Now that I have eaten I feel alot better. I will go again tomorrow :)
 
I didnt go to the gym yesterday. I was pretty sore from the two days prior. I noticed on Tues that I came home shaking and starving, so today before I go to the gym I am eating poached eggs and whole wheat toast. That should help. Otherwise I have been eating great and feel good :)
 
Well what I have been doing is working. I have lost 3 lbs already. I havent been eating after 7 either. Week 1 has been a huge success so i am going to continue doing what I am until I stop seeing results. So poached eggs this morning with toast, protien shake when i get back, salad with tuna or chicken for lunch, then some kind of protien for dinner with veggies. Usually a granola bar for snack too :)
 
OK. Well I am super sick with the h1n1 virus. I am still trying hard to eat properly, but it sucks since I have to sit on the couch for days on end :( Might have to start over once this virus goes through my system.

After your workouts you need to eat something containing carbs within 20 minutes of finishing your workout.

Thanks guys. I am actually feeling quite a bit better today. I want to go back to the gym on thurs. And yes I am having a hard time seeing the smiles too.
 
Sucks that you're sick. Just battle through it, get plenty of rest, and jump back on the horse as soon as you feel able.
