My first before pics

I finally broke down and bought a scale today, about what I expected at 270lbs. I have been jogging at least 3 times a week since September for the most part. I think I'm going to up the ante a little bit after seeing all these success stories and getting some motivation again. I have also started watching the calories a little more closely this week and keeping them at about 2000 a day. Well pics say 1000 words so on to the fun.

This was taken in the beginning back in Sept, kinda hard to see what's goin on b/c of the jacket but you get the idea:

Late Sept 2007 (Don't know my weight here, didn't really want to know)

First pic is from Jan 14 2008 (Been jogging pretty regularly since Sept. Usually about 3 times a week at least, worked up to about 2 miles now)

Update:
Before and after of 1 month (Jan 14 to Feb 14). Jogging about 2.5 miles and I'm 10 lbs down, I can't really see a difference but the scale says it's there so...that will have to do for now. :)

Words of encouragement are always welcome and I'm going to keep up on the photo's, track my progress, I always love seeing before and afters! Lol...

Good luck on getting down to where you want to be! And yes, the jogging has already worked for you -- you can really tell in the pictures!

My best advice to you is this: Since you can already run 2 miles, why not try running a little longer every day and competing in a 5k? It wouldn't be that hard to get to, and I find it helps to have something else to work toward beside just the raw weight-loss numbers. For me, if I have a bad week with poundage for whatever reason, I'm able to think to myself "well I still ran 4 miles today and that's quite an accomplishment" or whatever, and it keeps me focused instead of losing hope and bagging it all, which I've been wont to do in the past :blush5:

But yeah, keep up the good work and post in here again when you see results!

Thanks for all the kind words guys (and especially the ladies, lol)! Idk how it is for everyone else but when people have good things to say it makes me want to go out and push harder. Places like this site are good because I know it's hard for the people that see you everyday to notice small changes, but here people can see all the work over whatever time increment you choose to post and they def. notice a diff so it's nice to hear that it's working. Anyways, long story short, thanks for all the kind words everyone! :)

Yeah, you're pretty cute. (I've always had a soft spot for big, hairy, tattooed guys though.)

I have a couple of seemingly irrlevant questions for you. How tall are you and how old are you? From looking at your pictures, you might not have to get all the way down to 200 to look "good," especially if you were in your teens or early 20s in that picture from three years ago.

Keep up the good work. And if you are working on covering more distance with the running, I have a killer interval plan that really helps build lung capacity and endurance. If you're interested, message me. :)

Hey, I'm not THAT hairy, lol....half Italian so I guess thats where that comes from, lol. To answer your questions I'm 5'11" and 28 years old (turned 28 in sept).

I'm up for any advice/encouragement people want to give, I'm thinking I'm going to start hitting the gym a few times a week with a friend as well as jogging. Maybe expedite the process a little bit.

I'd definitely recommend hitting up the gym. A handful of strength training sessions paired with a handful of cardio sessions each week would be more than enough for starters, assuming you couple this with 'good' nutrition.

First thought on seeing your first picture, "gosh he's damn handsome"

Well done on what you have done so far, you can really tell the difference. Good work!

I will also recommend weight training & eating clean. I use Thedailyplate.com to log everything I eat (also aids in dividing up carbs/protein/fat in a healthier manner). You can even have it tell you how much to eat (based on your weight/height/age/sex) to lose x amount per week. + You log your workouts which 'allow' you to eat more, etc. Even if you don't want to track diligently it may be a good place for you to get a rough idea of how much you should be eating to lose w/e amount p/week.

You're looking a ton better already :)

Thanks for all the kind words everyone! It really keeps me motivated to keep up with it so I can have a good pic to throw up for my next "during" post, lol...

As far as eating I write down everything I eat, very very rarely I drink soda. I've been hovering at about 2000 calories a day which really doesn't feel like I'm starving myself. I'm trying to work the gym into my day but I'm just finishing my BSME (Bach. in Mechanical Engineering) so as you can imagine school is taking up alot of time but I make it a point to at least try and jog three days a week minimum, worst case sit-ups and push-ups but I really like the after feeling of jogging because it feels like I accomplished more. Well anyways....thanks a million for all the great things everyone has had to say! Always makes me smile to read them!

uhhh... yep.

gotta agree with the rest of the ladies. you're freakin hot!

i guess i should say something fitness oriented now. good job on the workouts. hehe.

I'll second that recommendation. You and I have VERY similar stats. 5'11", 28, 283 start weight... so, as people have said, Nutrition is 70-80% of the game. Learn about caloric deficits and how they would benefit your body (don't go extreme or it bites you in the ass in the end). The cardio/weight training is simply to make sure your heart is in good shape and you don't loose a ton of muscle mass as your body is using it's stores for energy (lean muscle will be the first to go, so the weight training is optimal for keeping that all on while the fat is let go).

Good luck on the program.
