My fat-loss-4-idiots diet plan

I am trying a new diet today and I will chart it here daily.

The "weight-loss-for idiots" diet plan is nice...in theory. We will see how it works in reality. It gives me between 1200-1600 calories a day, and alternates the kind of calories you get, where they come from...if you will. There are days when you have lots of protein, there are days when you have only fruit all day. It keeps your body guessing so that you never have the same sort of intake and your burning doesn't "level out." But just about everything I like to eat is on there...just combined in weird ways. You eat 4 times a day spaced out by 2 1/2 hours each. It's an 11 day plan that results in a 9lb weight loss. Every 11 days you are supposed to have a "break" from the diet and eat things you normally shouldn't...take a "small step back." This more or less tricks your body into thinking you always eat this way, it kicks into "high burn mode" so that when you go for another 11 days...your plan is more effective and you burn fat. It takes a few days to register and react to your eating patterns. All the while you are working out regularly..on a DAILY basis, but slow burn, like power walking or light cardio..so that you burn fat. Nothing mega strenuous or your body goes into a different burn mode and attacks muscle since you are at a low calorie intake.

DAY #1
starting weight 182.2lbs / body fat 31.2%

10am
1 apple cut in slices
1/2 cup roasted unsalted cashews
1/2 cup fat free cottage cheese

1:30pm
1/4lb roast beef (that I made)
1 can tuna mixed with Miracle Whip
steamed broccoli/zucchini/squash
one can diet Barq's rootbeer

5:30pm
broiled orange roughy filet with lemon pepper and parsley
1/4 cup unsalted walnuts

(1/2 hour yoga and brisk walk for 1/2 hour)

8:30pm
10 small shrimp w/lemon and cocktail sauce
4 slices English cheddar cheese
1/4 cup pinto beans

64oz water throughout the day

Are those foods you picked or specifically part of the plan?

Not that I see anything wrong with them, seems a wonderful variety of food! Fish, shrimp, roast beef, tuna, nuts, cheese, beans...... Wow!

I like it! I doubt I would have access to such a variety of foods each day, but I suppose with ample planning it would be doable. Certainly looks yummy!

I am guessing that is the high protein day? ;)

Hiya!!!

Yeah, they start by giving you a list of different foods and you select all the ones you like and leave off all the things you hate. There's many choices. Then, after you have a series of foods that you work with, it will create menus for you to have every day. there are 4 meals planned out and you can eat those 4 meals in any order, except for a certain days, it demands that you eat a particular one first or last. There is even room for desert...but they only allow frozen yogurt or mixed fruit with Cool Whip.

I went to Ralph's and bought enough for all 11 days. I worked for about an hour yesterday sorting everything out efficiently in advance. I separated portions of each food in sandwich bags and placed them in the fridge/freezer. Right now there are like 100 little baggies filled with this and that ready to go! Each day I will take out all I need for the day and either bring it with me (with the meat cooked) or keep it on hand ready and prepared if I'm at home. You can cook the meat the night before and keep chilled, or just cook it up really fast on the spot if you have time.

I'm either broiling or pan frying everything with lemon, vinegar and/or a little olive oil.

You are also allowed non-creamy condiments and any spices/herbs you want!

Track my progress the over the next 11 days and let me know what you think!!

WOW! Now thats what i like to hear!

You really sound like you have everything together! I suspect this is going to work wonders for you! I know prepping all my meals in advance has taken me to the next level, but you have even gone beyond that. I will definitely follow your progress!

I would wish you luck, but really, it sounds like you don't need it at all. The food you listed in that first day didnt sound "diet" at all. Sounded more like something I should feel guilty for later. :)

Keep us posted!

I remember a guy that kept 100 little baggies in his fridge too, though he certainly wasn't on any diets..... ;)

THOSE little baggies are what got me into this mess in the first place!!!!!

No...seriously, it's all good stuff. But you'll see as I progress that the food combinations are somewhat unusual and not at all desirable every day. I don't know the science behind it..but they combine certain foods and then put certain TYPES of calories in a particular order mixing them up continually. It supposedly confuses your body and you burn fat. Daily LIGHT cardio is also essential, but you can't kick your heart rate up too much or you'll burn muscle. It suggests fast walking and stuff like that. sloooooooowwwwww burn.

But 9 pounds in 11 days...that's a tall order! We shall see!!!

Look at the website if you want:

Hiya twin- your diet plan sounds great and I think your optimism regarding this entire ordeal will make the weight loss/toning progress even smoother- I'm starting a two-day detox today and then the Fiber plan on Saturday- we'll have to keep each other posted! Speak soon xoxo

TOTALLY! the detoxing is a great idea. I did the Master Cleanser 10 day detox just before I started this. No food for 10 days but you get prooper nutrition from the drink. I lost about 12 lbs but really improved my digestion, skin and mind.

I know that sounds like a bunch of hippy bollocks (see I'm turining English already) but it's true. I felt GREAT and I actually wqs not hungry for most of it.

If anyone wants an account of my experience, I will be glad to post it. I will also do it again in August and I'll give a play by play like I'm doing with this one!

*I'm just going to repost this in case you don't read it in my thread- I think its important that you read it:)*

Becka I finally read you whole thread! I am amazed at your courage and dedication...and at your willingness to admit in front of everyone what you are going through. I commend you so much and I really look up to you. This post is giving me the strength to admit something myself.

Blair,

Oh gosh where do I start..first and foremost, I commend YOU for being so brave and frank with your struggle with your eating disorder [or disordered eating- however you prefer defining it..the former seems so much more extreme, doesnt it!]. Similar to myself, i could sense how incredibly difficult of a challenge this was for you and without sounding too cliche, I can honestly say that expressing those words out loud is a HUGE step- trust me.

I can empathize entirely with you as you articulated how you would get the b/p process down "to a science" and you would actually plan ahead so you knew when you could eat and be rid of it and when you would have to keep it in your system. That's part of the control that a disorder gives you- its You determining What you Eat and whether or not you keep it down..

And those people buying you the meals and the meals themselves are what I call 'diet sabotagers' or 'enablers.' Like you mentioned, similar to when a friend buys you a box of chocolates or your other half buys you a big expensive dinner, you wouldnt dare refuse the offer in fear of insulting or compromising the generosity..so you're stuck with the food and the mental mindgames that begin at the first sight, bite and swallow of each morsel. After a while of this perpetual process, you develop this mentality that it is perfectly acceptable to respond this way since you are not eating the food on your own accord... But once rationality chimes in and you stop trying to justify your actions, you open your eyes to the reality of the situation- you're beating the hell out of your body and making yourself crazy.

And again, I can empathize with the British fiance who eats all of that fattening but oh so delicious British food- I put on most of my weight this summer eating Chinese and Indian takeaways and potatoes, etc. And of course, the bloody British chocolate and sweeties that far exceed ours on this side of the pond. You always trick yourself into believing that "since he can eat it and not gain weight or feel guilty, perhaps I can as well", thereby ignoring the little voice screaming "You're going to regret this and want to purge after you finish it.."

And I would love to tell you there's a quick fix or easy cure to the problem but I'm afraid this story doesnt have the fairy-tale plot that our romantic lives seem to share. We have an obsession, an addiction if you will. And there is no easy way to shut off the brain mechanism that says "eat, eat" anymore than the one that screams "purge purge." But you can learn to tame it; to begin controlling it... I started therapy in December and while I would love to say I havent binged/purged since, that would be an enormous lie. I have perhaps five or six times since November which is a massive improvement from the 3-4 times weekly that my disorder had escalated to in the fall.

The greatest thing I have learned to do is to recognize and entirely avoid my trigger foods- cookies, peanut butter, ice cream..oh you know, all of the yummiest foods in the world. I can't just have a taste of these foods- the guilt sets in immediately and I know that I will need to eradicate the food from my body, which, as you know, then leads me to extend this mere 'taste' into a full-out binge. So, when I manage to avoid these foods, I can stay on track and remain somewhat sane! But that doesnt mean that happens all of the time, especially over the past two weeks. When I'm really stressed or really happy, I tend to adopt a carefree attitude where I think I can consume whatever I want and not feel guilty about it later- I delude myself into believing that the disorder isnt a part of me and that I can entirely separate myself from it. Unfortunately, this is far from the truth.

Eating has controlled my life- my actions- my relationships for a very, very long time. My mood is determined by how I fit into my clothing or what the numbers on the scale read; my happiness is indicative of how long I have managed to go without weakening to a binge. It is a realization that has taken well over a decade to come to but it is such a relief to finally be able to articulate and verbalize all of the emotions and chaos that have been terrorizing me for such a long time. I have an addiction and while I will never be cured, someday, hopefully in the near future, I will reach a point where I will no longer use food in response to or in lieu of my emotions.

As for you, just breathe. You do know what you are doing or you wouldnt have even joined this forum. Perhaps this new eating plan is a bit foreign to you, as are the primary elements of dieting but don't fret- once you pick up the few basic principles, the rest tends to fall into place. One thing you really have going for you is a very optimistic, motivated and goal-oriented attitude- that is something I need you to rub off on me!

What I have learned after trying 450 diets [I'm slightly melodramatic..] is that no "diet" will work long-term- what you need to adopt if a lifelong eating plan.. Something that becomes entirely automatic and that you can follow wherever you are in the world, regardless of the type of food or preparation. If this is what you do, then yes, you can most definitely maintain the eating. It doesnt mean you have to give up the "taboo" foods for life- you are certainly permitted to indulge every so often! It just means that beans on toast with sausages and ham and British chips should be a monthly dinner and not a daily one!

The most important mechanism behind eating right and working toward a goal is to be HONEST with yourself. The point of this forum is to be brutally sincere with yourself; the anonymity eradicates the fear of someone 'finding you out' that you know. We are all here for a reason and there should be nothing you feel ashamed about. If you consume 5000 calories in one meal, write about it- write about how it made you feel. If you b/p, write about it- or write to me alone and tell me why you did it and how you felt about it. You won't believe the effect that honestly can have on your well-being. For the first time in my life, i have begun to be honest with myself as of late and I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. It's like, "I have an eating disorder, so what? I'm working my tail off to attempt to control it so if I screw up every so often, I just need to get back on track right away before I let myselg go again." Honesty is KEY here.

Fooling yourself will only lead to disaster and ineffectiveness. Try your eating plan for a few weeks and if you find it to be a huge effort to attempt to maintain or find it unenjoyable/too complicated or anything but 'ideal' for you, try something new. If I have learned anything in my 23 years it is that when it comes to losing weight, you just need to figure out what works for you. I'm so proud of you and I look up to YOU for your honesty with yourself and everyone on this forum! You're amazing!

On a different note, tell me more about the specfic detox system that you did- mine is only a 2-day! Hope you had a great day!

Thank you SO MUCH for your response. It's nice to not feel alone. I have subscribed to your thread so I will keep track of you too!

As for the Master Cleanser..it's in the press a lot these days so it's easy to get ahold of. But for 10 days you drink nothing but this lemonade you make. No other food is consumed...but you can have water too. You have to drink 6 of these a day:

10oz spring water
juice of 1/2 an organic lemon
2 tablespoons organic grade C maple syrup
a few drops of organic cayenne extract

There is enough nutrition to sustain you and you are only hungry for a couple of days initially. You have serious headaches from withdrawals from sugar and caffeine. But by the end of day 3 it's easy and you are not hungry. This doesn't mean you don't want to eat...but you don't feel starved or sick. And you have lots of energy. It was not difficult once you get past the 3 day mark.

You drink a herbal laxative tea at night and then on some mornings you drink a quart of salt bath made with warm water and 2 tsp un-iodized sea salt. YUK! That's a drag and you have to do it on an empty stomach first thing in the AM. You have to chug it. I only had the will to do that twice. once on day 5 and once on day 10. it's amazing, because even though you are not eating solids...you are still producing them...not to be too graphic.

It's not meant for weight loss...but for cleansing purposes. It's been around for like 50 years, but it's all over the press right now. In 10 days, Beyoncé lost 20lbs...I lost about 12.

OK..back to the meal plan:

DAY #2
starting weight 181.2lbs / body fat 31.2%

11am
roast beef sandwich:
2 slices 7 grain bread (supposed to be oat bread but I couldn't find it)
homeade sliced roast beef
beefsteak tomatos
iceburg lettuce
sweet white onions
Miracle Whip

one diet Barq's rootbeer

For the rest of the day I had fruit only. pears, apples, strawberries, oranges and plums. I did not eat proper meals, but rather just grazed when I was hungry. The last serving had a little low fat Cool Whip on top. That was not part of the plan (on this day)...but I could not resist. I think I was meant to have proper "meals" of fruit..but I just snacked.

64oz water throughout the day

I only walked for like 20 minutes...it was windy and ashy out and I bailed.

Hiya twin,

This eating plan is very different from anything I have ever heard of before- it doesnt seem to be something you can pursue long-term without eating proper meals regularly- I'm not insinuating its a 'bad plan'; just questionable and different from anything I have ever heard of- do you think its something you could follow long-term? If not, I can help you in that department considering my past loyalty to fad diets and recent "break-up" with those wretched things! If you like it and can stick to it permanently, stick with it as long as its balanced- what do they recommend for your daily consumption! Have a great day ox bec

Wow... Ukuleles and the master cleanser?

You just keep getting cooler!

;)

I have been a regular user of the good old master cleanser for nearly a decade. I typically do one every 6-12 months. I love it. Most people think me mad, but I can't tell people enough about how great it makes me feel. And they never believe it till they see me that I am not suffering lack of energy or blackouts after ten days. I don't do it for weight loss at all, all the weight I lose on the system is the bad gunk inside me. As a matter of fact, as much as it is hard to get over here, I just restocked on maple syrup, as I am almost due.

I found another fantastic use for the cleanser too. For the first couple years in China I, like some other foreigners here, picked up a little bug that never really went away. A stomach thing that wasn't terrible but uncomfortable. If you took certain medicine it fixed it, but it would always come back. Well, I decided to hit it with the cleanser and see what happened.... Long and short of it, it went away, hasn't reared its ugly head since. No kidding at all. That was a year ago. A year has passed and it must be time to de-gunk again...

My mom thought i was insane when I informed her about this cleanser but after hearing another success story about it, I may be more open to trying it-don't you gain the weight back straight after you finish!? It kindof defies all of the laws of weight loss!

Well, you have to remember...the Cleanse was not meant be used strictly to obtain weight loss...true..it's a really nice perk...but that's not the purpose.

The reason is to "prime" your body. You eliminate toxins, restore balance, and also give your system a break. When you work out...you don't work a particular set of muscles everyday, you give it a break and alternate. Your digestive system is the same way. It benefits from the break and rest. Imagine if you were to lift a dumbell with your right arm every day, all day long....you'd be sore and knackered! You also have like 4 days worth of food in your system at any given time. Most of it toxic and energy depleting. You have good bacteria...but also LOADS of bad bacteria. When you fast..you clear ALL of it out...then introduce good bacteria again slowly with raw foods and maybe some probiotics. You can immediately see the benefits of this rest by the sheer amount of energy you have. You almost feel little "speedy" at times. I could rarely sleep more than 6 hours and I just had so much pep. The energy your body normally would be spending digesting difficult food is bubbling out of you while your system lays back and says "ahhhhhhh...finally."

You just start with a clean slate, well rested, healthy and free from addiction (and we all know food is an addiction, not to mention sugars, caffeine, preservatives, etc....nasty little buggers that string you out.) That process aids digestion, proper eating habits and good hygene. Your body runs better...like defragmenting your hard drive.

True, you gain some of the weight back immediately, but not ALL of it. I gained 3 lbs the very next day...but I have lost that in the following week through proper diet. So now, one week later after the break of my fast, I am at the same weight, but still 14 lbs less than when I began the fast.

I COMPLETELY recommend this for ANYONE! it's hard the first couple of days...but then it's totally doable. You'll just be overwhelmed by the positive effects.
