My dairy

1 gallon of water weighs about 8.5 lbs.

That means that 8 oz of water = about .53 lbs. So if you drink a bottle of water (normally about 20 oz), that's 1.4 lbs of water sitting in your stomach.

People don't think about the fact that what they put IN their body also has weight - and until it's digested and either metabolized or eliminated, the weight of it also counts on the scale.

This is why you need to be VERY consistent with your weighing, if you're planning on using the scale as your primary measuring tool.

Holy cow! I never thought of that, I thought I gained two lbs but I weighed when I got to work and that was after chugging water all morning trying to rehydrate after a weekend of drinking...geeze!

Spark, Hope your day is as great as yesterdays!

Got on the scale today, I'm 231.5! Woohoo! Almost below 230!

Ride my bicycle for 30 minutes outside...couldn't wake up at 4 am because I was too tired for some reason. So I had to do it at 8 am...damn it was hot and humid! Not only that, it was hard, especially riding up hill. I hope to do the stationary bicycle tomorrow (inside the house).

Breakfast:
Usual quaker cereal (Vanilla, almonds and honey) 150
Lean smoked ham (60)
Piece of wholewheat bread (70)
Yogurt (60)
1 8 oz glass of kool aid (120?)
Total cal for breakfast: 460

Great job on riding this morning, even if it was later than expected and hot out.

Thanks, problem is I need to install a water bottle holder on my bike..I get thirsty alot when I'm riding...also my ankles still have a dull ache from the running..not that bad but still present.

Today was my last day of working for the week until next Monday, so I'm deciding whether to wake up tomorrow at 4:50 am (ick) or do the stationary bike later tomorrow. The stationary bike has a tendency to come apart when I'm riding it. asked my dad to fix it today..The problem with the stationary bike though is even though I do it for an hour, its too easy to quit early, since you aren't really going anywhere. Also its kind of noisy, so you gotta crank up the TV to be able to hear the TV..Still debating which one to use..we'll see ...

It wouldn't be so bad if I didn't live in arizona, I can't wait until fall comes and it becomes more cool, then I'd ride my bike anytime of the day everyday. I just hate riding uphill! I want to work on getting my stamina up on it to ride 5 miles one way, for a total of 10 miles total. There's a local coin shop 5, and another one 6 miles away, I want to ride my bike to it.

Lunch:
Lean slices of hickory smoked deli ham (60)
Lean slices of turkey with seasoning (50)
2 pieces of whole wheat bread (140)
1 piece of cheese (provolone..70)

Snack: a serving or so of spinach (20)

Cal for lunch: 320

Total cal: 800

I didn't bring a snack with me to work, I brought lunch though, big mistake. My dad made dinner but he's weird, he has to wait until my mom comes home to eat it...even though it's hot and fresh off the grill. So, I'm waiting until my mom comes home to eat dinner...

Well it's been over 3 weeks on my paid membership to chemistry.com....not a single person interested in me. This is depressing...more reason for to lose weight, girls just don't seem to like fat/obese guys.

I was on Match.com for over a year, and the only person who ever contacted me was the only other local guy on there, and it was just to ask me if I was having much luck finding guys on there.

No idea on the cal's of the other stuff, my mom made it from scratch.
Just to be liberal, let's say it has ~750 cal
+90 cal for some sunny D I drank

Total cal: 1640

That still brings me under 2000, ideally a little too low. I just not sure how many cal's the dinner had, so I'm being careful. I might cut open some cantaloupe for some extra snacks.

Oooh .. cantaloupe. I haven't had that in forever and I love it. Ever sprinkle it with a little salt and pepper first? Sooo good. It just makes the sweetness more pronounced.

If only I knew how to cut it open in slices to make it neat! I'm not used to cooking and I had a bear of a time opening it and slicing it....it looks like I took a sledgehammer to it, lol

Anyway, weighed myself first thing this morning. 231-232...I really need to get out of the house more. Maybe go somewhere and do something fun with someone, I am so lonely. Yesterday we went to walmart, I put on my shorts. They used to be tight on me, but now I realized I must've lost some weight on my thighs because they fit perfectly, and weren't tight. I thought they were a different set of shorts.

I was hoping to wake up early in the morning today and ride my bike, I wasn't too tired, but decided not to. Going to use the nortic trak for an hour today, see how that goes, the bicycle is just too noisy. My mom used it yesterday (she started exercising and eating right too) and was sweating alot using it, so I think its better cardio than the stationary bike.

Breakfast:
4 pieces of lean smoked ham (60)
60 cal yogurt (60)
the usual quaker cereal (150)
some smashed cantaloupe (No idea here, my book didn't even have the cal range. 60?)
A small dash of milk in the cereal for taste (20)
1 diet walmart can of soda
(0)
Total cal for breakfast: ~350
:smash:

ya, everytime I try and cut up a cantalope, or any melon for that matter, I hack it to peices. I like my catalope with cottage cheese and sprinkled with salt and pepper and a dash of lemon juice.

Good job motivating your mom to get healthier...wish I could do the same.

Well I tried using the nortic track, its a pain and hard to do. I think I'll stick to the stationary bike for an hour. I did about 15-20 minutes of cardio riding my bike out in the heat...I don't have any money for a water bottle holder. I came back very thristy, hot, and probably dehydrated. My face was red...I'm not doing that again when it's that hot. I drove my bike to the bike store where I bought it, the wheel seemed to slightly squeak agianst the tire. I think that's normal now..I had it tuned up for free though, he gave it some air and re-adjusted the spokes.

I'm going to do the stationary bike for an hour still...so I get in some real cardio.

Breakfast:
4 pieces of lean smoked ham (60)
60 cal yogurt (60)
the usual quaker cereal (150)

cantaloupe fruit (100?)
1 serving of green beans (35)
1 8 oz glass of sunny D (90)
Total cal for lunch: 555

Total cal for today: 905
Eesh, I think that's it. Had a big lunch..hopefully it will give me the energy to do an hour of cardio on the bike.

I did an hour of cardio on the stationary bike....before that I rode my bike around town for about 12 minutes..now to wait for my body to relax and do 30 minutes of strength training on the wii

Wow, you are having a very motivating day! I've been sitting in my office doing paperwork and dealing with a wonkey phone system all day and frankly, I'm jealous of all the stuff you've been able to do.

Well it's because I live with my parents, I'm off work for the week because I only do my internship in computers monday and tuesday..might as well put it to good use. I'm just so tired of being fat...I want to gain muscle too.

I fininished the 30 minutes of strength training on the wii...although I should say it is no substitute for the gym and using dumbbells. When I used to go to the gym and do bicep curls, I could feel my muscle get hard the next day, with pushups and strength training on the wii, I sweat alot but really don't have that rock hard feeling the next day, nor am I sore the next day. I can't wait until I get paid next month, and I can ride my bike to the gym...its a costly membership (50 bucks a month!) but I think it will be worth it just for the weights. I also hope to get off this medication(s) for high blood pressure.

After I did the strength training I had a protein shake (116 cal) and a glass of fat free milk (90 cal)

Breakfast:
4 pieces of lean smoked ham (60)
60 cal yogurt (60)
the usual quaker cereal (150)
some smashed cantaloupe (No idea here, my book didn't even have the cal range. 60?)

Total cal for lunch: 555

Post-workout protein shake:
116 cal
8 oz glass of milk:
90

Total cal for today: 1111

And I've noticed something rather amazing and motivating as well. Even though I've only lost 9 lbs so far, I feel good about my body. I don't feel fat anymore, even though I am. I think I'm becoming to like my body more...most of all I feel proud of myself for making a change and can't wait until I lose 15, then 20, then 30 lbs.

That is one of the best things I've read on the forum today. :) Yay for you!

It really is amazing when you start to feel good about your body, isn't it? Even if you're not at your goal - even if you're not near your goal - to know that you CAN do this and that you are capable of running, lifting weights, riding your bike and just being a healthier person is really awesome. :)

It's more of the feeling "I Can do this!" and "I've already lost weight!" that gives me motivation. I also agree with your statement..:hurray:

Excellent, I wish you could bottle that feeling and sell it. I'd buy some! LOL!
