my cry for help

hey all im almost 26 years old and weight 64 kilos im 5 foot 8 and have a heigh matabolisom its like what ever i eat i dont put on weight...
i would like to put on weight and alot of muscle but dont know where to start and what to do ... i own a gym set and am thinking about buying protein powder and setting my self a diet but i dont know what the diet should have in it and do not know what portein powder would be good for me ... like i said i wanna put on body mass and muscle ... i atleast wanna be 80 kilos at 26 years of age not 64 :(

please help
 
well, this is a huge topic. spend a bit of time searching on the forum for some of these answers, but i'll try to get you started.

exercise for about 30-45min, 5 x Week. if you are not currently working out ... start with 3 x week and work up ... start with light weights too. to build size, work on the big muscles ... squats, bench and deadlifts ... those 3 are golden exercises.

nutrition: keep it healthy. no junk food or drinking. eat 6/day, if possible (smaller meals). have 1 or 2 protein shakes ... a lot of people on here are doing 2 ... personally, i usually only do 1.
 
allcdnboy had some good stuff to say... just keep in mind one thing... at a fundamental level you are going to want to weight train a lot and eat well of course. I recommend you cut out the cardio for a while.

Protein is great but don't use to much and you might even want to look into creatine eventually. It is controversial but it is not a drug or anything to worry about. Research it and make a decision based on your comfort but they will help add some size... nothing spectacular.

You are not putting on weight because you are not eating enough in contrast to what your activity level is. One that is healthy and without any health issues CAN gain weight. It takes EDUCATION on how to do it, and the desire to go out an earn it.

Remove the word CANT from your vocabulory. Believe me when I tell you I have more going against me at 46 than you do at 26. Wake up the HEAD and our muscles will SPREAD and your motivation will never be DEAD. YES!

OH!........HE, HE...Welcome to the forum young man! You can do ANTHING YOU SET YOUR YOUNG MIND TO.......and then some more!

I was waiting to see chillen's response as this was tailor made for one of his motivational bursts.

Get yourself some good quality fish oil liquid and load up on those EFA's!! Flax oil liquid would be another addition as well.
