My brain dump

3 years ago I lost 50lbs. I followed the Weight Watcher's program and found it quiet easy. I consistently lost 1-2 lbs per week with just diet alone. Sadly, I gained all the weight back and am now facing the entire process all over again. Only this time I am struggling, I just can't seem to find that place where I am motivated and successful. It is hard.

I have lost 5lbs in the first month. I'm planning on joining a gym and getting in shape. I am hoping that if I write things down I will be more likely to follow through with them.

Please feel free to jump in with a tip, story or general encouragement. I can use all the help I can get.

:waving:HI! congratulations on getting back on track with your health! You know WW works, and those pounds will drop off nicely as you work the programme (and get your exercise in). Do you have any pics to post that will inspire you as you lose? I am using WW too, and am very pleased.

You can do this! Hope you have a good support system in place and that lots of folks comment as you lose the weight! I always love that part :biggrinjester:

Cheers and best wishes on your journey!

-- How much weight do you want to lose?
I'd like to loose 55lbs.

-- What is the timeframe for reaching your target weight?
I don't really have a time frame, I'd be happy with 1-2lbs until it's done.

-- How do you want to accomplish your goal (what methods do you want to use)?
I am trying Weight Watchers - I have had success with the program in the past. I need the accountability of going to the meetings and getting weighed in.

-- Who or what can support you in reaching your goal?
I started the program with a friend and am joining a gym with my neighbor.

-- How realistic is your goal?
It seems pretty realistic. It is not going to be easy but I think it is doable.

-- When will you start?
I started about a month ago. I should get one of those little ticker things. I think that would be a good visual aid.

Thanks!

Abbagirl - Thanks for your encouragement. It's hard to say (almost embarrassing to admit) how much I needed a pep talk. I feel better, thank you.

I was also able to add the ticker. I love it - I think seeing that turtle move on is going to be a big help. Slow and steady will win the race!

I won't let life get in the way

It has been a week or so and I've been really sick with the flu. It seems like every time I try to get on track something comes up, illness, vacation and event etc.

And then I had an epiphany - something is always coming up. It is life. There is no diet in a vacuum, no perfect week to begin or anything like that. Letting these life-isms get in my way is just a form of procrastination and I will not be slave to them any more.

I realized that I am never going to have the perfect week so I may as well do the best I can with my hectic, chaotic, crazy life.

Amen about the lack of a perfect week. There will never be one, just like there's never the perfect day to exercise, just like it's incredibly rare to have a day of perfect eating. We just have to negotiate the day and the week that are in front of us and do our best!

JW - Thanks for your comment - it does seem so obvious now but it was really one of those ahaaaa moments for me.

My next goal is to join a gym, I'm going to FL for 10 days so I am going to join when I get back. In the spirit of not procrastinating I was going to just join this week but seriously I could not find the time with all the packing and stuff.
